  1. Got home today after a few beers moving a XR ute (1967 - not povo recent one) to get a paint job and decide it was a good idea to prep and cook above mentioned brisket.. (am only posting here because I was told "pics") Prepped brisket The Wagyu marbling (melts at body temperature - is what we (me) would pay more for) With the rub (Tatonka Dust - if anyone wants to know) In the cooker - lots of hours to go. Over indirect lumps charcoal with hickory chunks for the smoke. Next update will be at the carving (unless I remember to take a shot during the checking temps and "oooh - look how it's cooking" stages) Is my first slow cook beef (have smoked a heap of fish) - Next shot could be me eating the final product or the dog eating the final product.
  2. Drunk too much and still pumped from the gig - sleep's for the weak. After 12 hours at Soundwave tomorrow I may need a nanna nap to recharge.
  3. Believe me - it's not worth it for just one meal - that hopefully won't be offered. I've had BBQ failures that even the dogs refused to eat. Will have a heap left over (only feeding 3 people and some blow-ins) - can send you a doggie bag if it's any good Will be vac sealing leftovers for meals at a later date.
  4. Only since I got the auto instead of a manual Same time I started carrying a handbag apparently
  5. Off in a half hour to see Alice in Chains - getting pumped :D Not doing to bad for an old fogey lately
  6. Yeah - the Top 50 are getting pretty potent and out of reach for some of us. Maybe time for some new lists Top 50 Black G6ET's Top 50 Silver 2012 MkII's etc
  7. Prefer mine orally. The alcohol that is.
  8. If not and I stuff it up royally the dog gets a very, very expensive dinner :(
  9. Yeah - that's the idea. Only want an even half inch or so thick layer of the soft, white fat on top - getting rid of the hard, yellow fat and where it's too thick is what I'm after Idea is the soft fat will render down, keeping the beef nice and moist Too much and the flavour from the rub and the smoke doesn't get a chance to get into the meat. Hopefully that's about right - will be my first try at the slow cooked brisket, so am hoping it all works well
  10. Had someone who did an awesome group buy I jumped aboard - $18.50 a kilo Got 2 - a 4.7kg and a 4.2kg (almost 20lbs) for $165 eg: http://www.lobels.com/store/item.aspx?categorySEOName=wagyu-beef-brisket is a different brand and not sure of the quality, but more than double the cost
  11. Hehe - Be careful - I think they used my car AS a BBQ last week. Won't be marinating it - may inject it, but probably won't - it'll be smothered in mustard and caked in an awesome rub I've got a few hours before putting on the cooker. Needs a bit of trimming before that too - (get rid of most of the fat)
  12. Full blood, 9+ marble score Wagyu brisket to chuck over the charcoals for a slow cook this weekend Makes me happy (and drooling already)
  13. Did you purchase your own injectors or did the tuner supply them? If they're not flowing as a matching set it could cause issues?
  14. Changing to a new better server from what the FB page says
  15. Things go BOOM/CRASH under the bonnet so we say engine damage. I knew what he meant
  16. Old input (why we have them now) was from effort at this side of the pond wasn't it? We've got stuff that works now - maybe it's an easy swap to make it work with what we have now? If not then they wouldn't bother.
  17. Will need an Aus version first - will take a while
  18. Maybe something to do with a contract signed 8 years ago between Ford and FPV that locked prices in.
  19. All good. Am only asking here because I'll forget to do it in person edit: any idea what to expect on the gas only tune yet? (only asking because Ben hasn't and I'm hanging )
  20. Honestly - if anyone has to push some mods past the misses or the boss (will be tax deductible) - "LPG plus supporting mods" is the way to do it :D It may cost a bit more because these cars need a special LPG system, but you really want to do your thing for the environment and really, really save on the fuel bill - trust me hon, it's the sensible thing to do.
  21. Ran over something or got something lodged in the undercarriage at some stage - It's close to an exhaust and only starts smelling once the exhaust starts getting really hot? Would explain both why it only smells once you give it a bit and also the change in the smell?
  22. Tell me about it. Middle of the office I thought I'd have a look at the Forced 6 community that Stainless said had died. Am just so glad it was hetro - have been caught out before (I haven't run speakers on my office PC for a long time now - headphones only)
  23. Awesome Not unimpressed with that as the "compromise" tune at all Friggin ridiculous what can be achieved (relatively) cheaply if you ask me. I think that should get me to Adelaide from Melbourne (or close to) without having to stop for petrol or wishing I had more power Am starting to think I may run on that tune normally and not have to worry about making sure I've got gas in the tank all the time/worry when it's getting low. Would also prevent the case of where you get too used to how much power the car has - I can switch over to the "hot" tune for fun and a reminder, but it'd never get "old hat" Hanging to see what she does once you tighten up the tune. And.... on the pure gas tune :D Hope she continues to play nice for you on the dyno and I hope Ben keeps nagging for updates so I don't have to 91/LPG tune - question would be more an issue of fuel availability as far as I was worried. I was confident of being able to get 95 anywhere I went, and that anyone who borrowed my car would put at least 95 in. I would have gone a 98/lpg tune if I was after the figures on the secondary tune, but would be worried when I drove the back of b/f that a servo may not have 98 or LPG. A quick question while I remember to ask (and will do it in the forum so someone with the same q's may get them answered) What's the dangers if I'm running the dedicated gas tune and run out/switch over to petrol? : Will the engine/management compensate; is it ok if I drive sedately; should I pull over and swap tunes immediately; is it instant detonation?
