Yeah I find building to be incredibly relaxing. I don't usually do much set building though as I really enjoy building my own things. The only technic I have is the 4x4 Rock Crawler which I modded to have much more torque (so it can actually drive over things now). And yes, I will probably be getting the Ghost Busters set when it comes out. When I finally get around to building a better Falcon I'll probably include lots of working bits like diff, drive train and gearbox etc.

Surely you guys have hobbies that don't just relate to your vehicles.... right? Me, I play way too much Diablo 3, but my main hobby is building with, and collecting, Lego. One thing I've found is that there are usually one or more adult fans of Lego (AFOLs) in most walks of life, so wondering if anyone here is in to it also? I'm not the best builder out there, but I'm slowly getting better. I've been building a few largish vehicles (roughly 1:15 scale) and I'm planning on making an even larger scale model of my BA Falcon in the near (hopefully) future. Some things I've made are on my flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/82225640@N02/sets I made a big XR8 ute ages ago http://www.flickr.com/photos/82225640@N02/sets/72157631709156577/ but I think I'll be able to do better next time. Anyway, if there are any other Lego enthusiasts here, please let me know I'm hoping to make it to a few of the major shows in the Eastern states that are coming up. Sydney Brick Show is in April, I'll be there. I will hopefully be at the Brisbane show in July (I think that's when it's on), Canberra in August and Melbourne in January 2015. Cheers, Sam
  5. First car was a suzuki hatch.... no idea what year it was or anything. It was my learner car After that I had a 1988 N13 Nissan Pulsar that had been riced up to the max. I thought it was cool at the time. My first P plater car Next was a 1990 Nissan Skyline GTS-T. Loved that car but ran into a telegraph pole because I was a knob-head P Plater who finally got in a rear wheel drive car with some power Then I got a 1990 Nissan Silvia with a 2.0L turbo. Modded it a bit and ended up with about 180rwkw. Loved that car and owned it for nearly 10 years. Now I have a stock 2004 BA XR6T which I will most likely keep stock (famous last words, I know)
  6. Happy Birthday SamBoRG!

  7. I'm still looking at which cooler to get. I'm looking at this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AU-BA-BF4-SP-FORD-AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION-OIL-COOLER-KIT-/111150861595?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e11b8d1b and this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION-OIL-COOLER-FORD-AU-BA-AUTO-TRANS-GEARBOX-BTR-XR6-EX-LARGE-/121166423493?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c3614e5c5 The first one looks like it would be easier to fit. They both say they come with everything required, but is this really the case? Or should I make sure I have spare hoses etc on hand just in case? Also I'm pretty much as novice as they come in regards to mechanical work, but I'm a quick learner and should be able to do this (I hope). Are these kits as easy to fit as everyone makes out? I do have plenty of tools so that isn't going to be a problem, the problem is most likely to be with the installer Also, I assume it needs to be mounted on the driver side. I would have to just remove the plastic part shown on the pic below to gain access to the space between the intercooler and radiator, is this correct? Then it's a case of connecting all the hoses up, and blocking off the holes from where the hoses were before? Top up the gearbox fluid at the end? And that's it? Thanks!

Hello guys, I've made a few posts on these forums before, when I was still looking to purchase a car, but never introduced myself. I purchased a 2004 XR6T last weekend and I've been loving it! It's completely stock (apart from the rims) and only has 126xxx KM on it. The interior was clean as... I'm actually still shocked at just how clean the whole car is, both inside and out. Unlike most people that I've seen on these forums, I'm not looking to boost the performance of the car at all. I am happy with the performance, plus I'm a little scared at just how much petrol it goes through and would hate to imagine just how much a modified one would guzzle! Until now I've been a Nissan man all my life. My previous ride was a 1990 Nissan Silvia with 168kw at the rear wheels. May not sound like much, but for a car of that size and weight it was pretty awesome, without costing a fortune to work on or run. I live in Sydney. I guess the first thing I'll be doing to the car will be to install a separate cooler for the gearbox. I saw there was a guide on how to do this so I'll give it a go once I purchase the kit. Cheers, Sam
  9. Sorry to bring up an old thread. I see all the pics are gone from the first page. Are these kits as easy to fit as everyone makes out? I just purchased a nice BA turbo and want to fit one of these kits. Also, would this be the correct kit to buy? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION-OIL-COOLER-FORD-AU-BA-AUTO-TRANS-GEARBOX-BTR-XR6-EX-LARGE-/121166423493?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c3614e5c5 Thanks.
  10. Do all the BAs (XR6, XR6t, XR8, Fairmont etc) all share the same 4sp auto gearbox, or is the one in the XR6T different?
  11. Hi, Been a while since I've posted here. I still haven't purchased an XR6 yet. I was looking for one a year or so ago, but things changed etc, so had to put it off. Well I'm now starting to look again. My budget is pretty tight though. What I really want to know is are the BA XR6Ts worth looking at or not? My money can't stretch to a BF unfortunately and I need to get something soon so saving for longer isn't an option. I test drove my first BA turbo on the weekend and man it was nice, but it had some issues that worried me (it had been tuned and most likely had the boost wound up, idle was terrible with lots of engine shudder too, but actual driving was great). Am I wasting my time looking for a stock standard BA XR6T in auto for around $10k? I have heard the supposed horror stories that the salesmen feed you to try and get you to spend more on a more expensive car instead: "the BA turbo engines aren't strong" "the BA auto box is sh*t" blah blah blah. As long as the car has been kept standard and serviced regularly most of these issues should be minimised, right? I'm not looking to take it to the track. I'm not a hoon. I'm not even that young. I just want a family sized car, with a bit of grunt that isn't going to cost a fortune and the BA fits the bill. It unfortunately has to be auto because the wife can't drive manual, but doesn't that mean it's more likely that it hasn't been thrashed as much as a manual might have? Am I close to the mark thinking like this or am I totally missing it?
  12. Don't really want a non-turbo, as tempting as it is to get a newer model. What I guess what I need to understand is, if it's completely stock and not intended to be track driven or thrashed, is the BA auto box going to be ok (assuming it hasn't had a rough history)? My hooning days are over, not that I was ever really a hoon. I just want something comfortable that has the power when I feel like putting my foot down. My budget is pretty tight too.
  13. Hi guys, I'm new here and signed up as I'm looking at buying an XR6T very soon hopefully. I currently drive a 1990 Nissan silvia (2.0L turbo) and it's been a great car for the 8 or so years I've owned it. Fun car, quick, corners well, good on fuel and pretty reliable etc etc. However, I have a family including a 4 year old son. Getting my boy in and out of the car is getting harder and harder. And so here I am looking at XR6Ts as I feel that no other car will meet my requirements of being spacious, fun and not cost an arm and a leg to buy/maintain/insure. I know my fuel costs will go up a bit though, but I'm ok with that. Depending on what I get when I sell my Silvia (which will probably be bugger all unfortunately) I'll have a budget of around $12-14k. My requirments are that it has to be auto (my wife needs to be able to drive it and she can't drive manual, plus I'm kind of over working a clutch now), no more than 170,000 kms on the clock, prefer no mods, plus no accident history etc etc. Wife says I'm not allowed yellow or acid colours :( So anyway, I've done a fair bit of research and want to try to get a BF. I'm not overly fussed about KMs if it's been regularly serviced, but I still don't really want to go over the 170,000 mark. I want this car to last me at least 6 years. My problem is that I've never actually driven one. My workmate has a BF mark 1 and I've rode in it and it's really nice. However I think he scored a real bargain with his and is of a considerably higher quality (for the price he paid) than those I've looked up on carsales. I know very little about cars so I wouldn't know what is out of place unless it's pointed out to me. I think he paid around $16k for it (a bit over a year ago) and it's fully optioned and only had around 100,000km on it, plus it's in excellent condition from what I can tell. Am I correct in that the things to check are as follows: Worn Bushes rattles from the diff when travelling at around 80km/h or so changed injectors? Not sure how I'd be able to check that without opening up the engine cover though Are there any signs to look out for in terms of a worn gear box? Anything else I should be mindful of? I don't plan to mod it at all, but if I did I wouldn't be doing much to it as I don't plan on taking it to the track ever. I also heard somewhere that I'm better off looking for a good BA Mk2 rather than a (possibly) lower quality BF Mk1. What do you guys think? Should I not rule out BAs? I really don't intend on driving hard. It needs to be reliable as I drive to work every day but I'm not looking to have massive amounts of power. Also if anyone knows anyone in Sydney looking to buy a Silvia let me know ;-)
