  1. Haha f*cking hell that's exactly what I did, the dealer checked the bushes before and apparently they were fine and then like 2 weeks later I was told they were rooted by somebody who had it up on a hoist (it did start clunking and everything a lot worse in that 2 weeks). I swear I never exceeded the speed limit or did any burnouts...
  2. It seems like the money you'd spend on weight reduction could get some extra kilowatts am I right? Not to say that saving weight is pointless, it makes a big difference. I just find something cool about a full weighted car that goes very fast Maybe when I start doing qtr miles I'll hit up the gym to lose weight to make car go faster, 100kg I reckon I could take 10-15kg off my weight haha!
  3. The FG's drive so much better and made me a little sweaty after a spirited test drive (g6et). With traction control on and 91 in the fuel tank (according to sales person) it went like the clappers.
  4. So where would you recommend I go with my car if I want 300kw? It has the 4 speed so that's the max I believe and it's a nice number too I was wishing to achieve this with exhaust, valve springs, injectors, intercooler, new intake and any other small supporting mods. Would a fuel system upgrade be advised for me going this way?
  5. Ahhh that does make some sense for sure then! Running out of fuel is different to having your foot to the floor and running out of fuel I assume? That can/would cause engine damage?
  6. What's the deal with needing to have over half a tank of petrol for these different fuel pumps? Like I've heard it before where it is "ideal" to have the fuel pump submersed but is this something that will cause damage as I regularly run the tank right down to almost empty before filling up (~5-10LT in tank most times I fill).
  7. Dang! I'm actually considering telling work that I need to be in town on the next one of these! The good news is I don't have nearly as much work to do as before, I'm determined to do my fuel filter....without having the car fall down again...
  8. I gotta say this one has me very tempted (to remove spoiler). Only concern is how easy it is to get the center brake light in it's correct position (under the rear glass). I wouldn't bother filling the holes I'd just buy a new boot lid.
  9. Yeah I think I'm looking for the brembos in the Z series Bogan special Late model camira I testdrove the other week I'm happy to spend whatever it takes but I think trading to an FG will make me far happier. But for the time being, the braided lines and a flush. I'll defiantly notice a difference? The fluid was just done. I think I can ring up about something to do with the brake lines being faulty from factory but for a 2004 car and 140k kms that woulda been done by now, I'll ring ford next week!
  10. Yeah, call me an idiot cause just laughed my brains out and grabbed a beer afterwards. I didn't even get the fuel filter bolts undone....If I take it to a mechanic I aint telling them that I tried to do it either, they gonna be screaming when they see the condition of it (and I was turning the correct way).
  11. hahaha sometimes, I was defiantly referring to slowing down for corners.....alright you sorta got me. I mainly just like to chop people up to the speed limit I will add that the brakes have never felt the way I'd like them to feel, but they won't last long the way I drive the car haha.
  12. Hey, Firstly I want my BA brake pedal to feel harder and for it to be far harder to push the pedal to the floor, I noticed in a new FG I was able to get the pedal to the floor but I felt far more resistance far sooner. I have no problem pulling up and have had ABS come in a few times which is weird as I defiantly felt like the brakes could be put on harder before the wheels lock? My front rotors have been replaced with RDA slotted and dimpled with EBC brake pads (all work done while I was away and I had no real idea what was being done to my car haha so I didn't choose this combo myself). They take a bloody beating these RDA rotors I doubt they will last long, I regularly get them to fade but that's from always driving the thing like I'm on a racetrack, planting the brakes, accelerating hard, planting them again , and so forth. Where do I go to get a better brake pedal feel, my rear brakes have near new pads and rotors but they looked glazed or whatever that means, like really shiny and reflective like a mirror? Cheers.
  13. I've been dying to attend this but work is being very annoying (giving me weeks off then straight on a plane ASAP). After having my car fall off a jack cause of the dodgy way I had it supported up on uneven ground I think I need somebody to say LOL YOU DO IT THIS WAY NOT LIKE THAT. It's quite scary when you literally just get your head out of there and the car falls down onto the jack stands - probably would have only just been able to get my head out where the car was sitting after it fell.
  14. My doors shut lovely due to replacement of all door rubbers and the main rubber that runs right along it. have a feel of the actual rubber on drivers door and then compare that to one of the back doors (less use) for me it just felt thinner and different on the drivers door (which shut louder than the others). It was like $300 for the main rubber that goes right along the top though....
  15. A brand new turbo core cost $1000 for me.....Genuine brand new I seen it with me own eyes. Edit: Sweet! good to know you did the right thing OP and are happy. It's annoying but sometimes spending a slight bit more money gets excellent results and service.
  16. Hahaha, I'm not the type that will drive like a dick head to prove anything, Only really been driving for a year and there is always somebody who's running more boost than me I need to wait for my flight to come through on Wednesday to make sure I do fly home on that day but all should be good - I will confirm again that I am all good. Car's getting new tyres on Thursday during the day anyway... heh.
  17. Turbotrana I am interested in attenting the cruise on the 28th. Are many going that you know of? Not that it matters if only a few go, I'd love to have a good yarn with other xr owners cheers
  18. What's happening on the 28th? I wouldn't mind losing my cruise virginity and my xr is running sweet.
  19. I beeped someone that was driving all over the road and txting on their phone, like just once, really short beep. Completely set them off at me! Next minute we are lined up side by side on a dual carriageway and as he went to force me off the road I floored it and got up to about 180kmh, I think I did not need to go that fast to get away but you don't know who is in another car or what they may be armed with, so I got the hell outta there It's reasons like that why I now have a dash camera! get one people! Get one that can clearly ID numberplates of other cars. Trust me, it would have paid off as I could have taken the footage to police of someone trying to run me off road (but they woulda seen the GPS speed stamped on video ). But I've always had it said to me that a coward lives longer. I don't mean you are at all a coward OP, but damn it's lucky this person did not try to do anything more and you are all okay. I have ALWAYS tried to simply get away from fights/not fight at all/etc and it has paid off. I would like more discussion on dash cams on this forum, there probably already are threads about them but it would really be great if more people would spend the money on one.
  20. Haha I think I know what you mean but I had this sort of sound when my car was overboosting and I was going real easy on the throttle and getting a lovely whistle and tut tut tut backing off throttle, it was so so so fun turned heads everywhere. All back to normal now though ha!
  21. You demand it to be returned to the condition it was in before, repairing it won't do that if the damage was anything decent. Let them repair, then complain like all hell if it is not PERFECT - you didn't ask for the bus to hit your car.
  22. Wow getting hot in Perth, it's only getting to 30c here during the day but it's quite humid. I suppose I can wait to get back to avoid the heat haha!
  23. This might sound crazy, but wouldnt somebody be able to create a bluetooth adaptor for next to nothing that connects to your phone and allows you to flashtune your car? Like honestly myself - I would always go to a professional tuner and get the job done right, but this idea applies for changing tunes as well? The only way I can see this might have an issue is if there is some secret code that only the makers of the expensive flash tuners know (they are expensive for a reason I would think). (I am not saying flash tuners are a rip off, they are something you need to extract more power from these cars properly I believe.. One of the best value for money mods).
  24. Works got me in another state at the moment which absolutely blows! I won't be in town for sure on that day. Oh well, I hope it goes well and I really look forward to this happening again sometime. My car is actually having a few repairs done on it while it is away but they are just warranty items from a dealer. dannggg I hate FIFO work that has varying swings (sometimes a month, sometimes two weeks etc). I also have that app Torque on my android device as well as an ELM327 bluetooth adaptor, I loved the free version of torque and I think it was just a few dollars for the paid version, it works really well and connects quickly and starts spitting data out. It can load and clear fault codes(incase anyone was unaware).
  25. haha the reasonable excuse is he wants his car to have more go hahahaha sounds reasonable to everyone on this forum at least I'd hope!
