  1. I may have written the original post a bit incorrectly. It is an NA and does not have a red cover. Hence it is an NA engine. Nonetheless the car seems quite different to the test drive. Thanks for the info guys.
  2. Inspected an xr6 and picked it up a day later. I think something suspicious may have happened as the rear end seems to kick out a little more than expected (not sure if is from aftermarket springs + roads or not). Just wondering if all xr6's had a red rocker/engine cover? Because it was sold as a BA xr6 Mk2. The rocker cover on this car is not painted so I'm wondering if I have been had, it definitely seems like there is something wrong with the car. We shall see.
  3. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/banjup/cars/2003-ford-falcon-xr6-turbo-cheap-as/1003715487 Currently talking to this seller. Seems like a nice guy, I'm just wondering if there is anything to do to double check it is only the alternator that is the problem? And should there be anything I can expect to pay on top of that (problems with the car that are unforseeable or commonly go wrong). Have asked and he says it's fine only the alternator, I could buy and replace, and I can afford this car. Would still have to do a full inspection and double check everything and maybe get some additions later on for the car (Stripes, New Wheels,Leather package etc.) But overall what are your thoughts/advice? Thanks, Sam
  4. I am currently in WA (Live just near perth). Budget is in the low teens, hopefully no more than about 12500, So I'm not expecting any miracles. Thanks guys
  5. The one I was looking at got sold. None-the-less thanks for all the posts. Finding one that is in pristine condition within my budget will be difficult. I am not really looking to modify the car, just a nice car that I can enjoy while I'm at uni for the next few years, I will probably put some money into minor things but nothing that the majority of you would consider 'modding'. BA is probably all I can afford with a Turbo. If anyone is selling theres how much are you looking to sell it for? Still trying to find one, mainly with these criteria. Would prefer a Manual but auto is Ok. Leather interior and sunroof preferred. Lower K's (sub 170) preferred. I think that's about all haha. Anyone know how much it would cost to buy an alternator and how much it would cost to install? (how hard is it to do this on my own?) Thanks.
  6. What mileage should I look for? the car has done 190,000 k's which is a bit high. But well within my budget.
  7. 2003 xr6 Turbo. I am a complete noob on these cars so I'm not sure what other model etc there are. The boot doesn't have any markings or badges (falcon, xr6 turbo). Which I thought they normally did? Possibly an engine swap? Is there any way to tell from a chassis or engine number?
  8. Hey guys, Just discovered the Forums and thought I would ask you for some knowledge. (I used the search function, came up with no results). Just wondering about things I should expect before buying a xr6t. The one I am looking at is going cheaper than most others, which could be due to swift sale, or could be due to issues. I am currently contacting the owner and talking to him about it. What are some common issues with this type of car, things I should ask about, and more importantly things to look for when inspecting? What are the running costs of this car like? I have noticed it is a 4.0l and yet the fuel consumption is listed as similar to many 2.0 and 3.0l cars on the market. Any general owners information would be useful. Thanks, Sam
