V8 Supercar driver Tim Slade visits Pit Straight marking the ’50 days to go’ milestone ahead of the 2014 Clipsal 500 Adelaide. To celebrate the Clipsal 500 ‘50 days to go’ milestone V8 Supercar driver, Tim Slade took time out of his gruelling training regime to get reacquainted with the Clipsal 500 track as he prepares to kick-start his 2014 campaign with new team Supercheap Auto Racing. The former South Australian said he loves coming back to race in front of his home crowd and is looking forward to the new racing format and the circuit’s first ever twilight race. “This year’s Clipsal 500 is going to be one of the most exciting in the race’s history and I can’t wait. Two starts, two finishes on the Saturday and I think we’ll see a lot more aggressive racing overall. 125km is a really good distance – it’s long enough to ensure positions on the track will most certainly change but short enough that drivers will have to really race the entire time which is ultimately what the fans want,” Slade said. The exciting new format also includes a totally new evening race schedule with the first of the 39 lap V8 Supercars events currently scheduled to start around 4pm. The second V8 Supercar race for Saturday is scheduled to start around 7pm and finish just before 8pm as the sun sets low over the Adelaide parklands circuit. Sunday’s race format will see the V8 Supercars lining up for qualifying, the top ten shoot out and the final 250 kilometre leg of the Clipsal 500 Adelaide. On Friday, fans will be treated to a host of race action in the evening with Aussie Racers, Touring Car Masters, Dunlop Series and Porsche Carrera Cup all on show after 5pm. 17 year old Todd Hazelwood won the 2013 Shannons Supercar Showdown by less than a tenth of a second after a nail-biting grand final showdown with Tim Macrow on 7mate last Saturday. In the definitive clash of youth and experience, the young South Australian overcame early nerves to defeat his older and more experienced Victorian opponent in a hot lap shoot out at Melbourne’s Calder Park Raceway. Hazelwood and Macrow were each given two timed five-lap sessions on the full-length circuit, driving the Shannons V8 Supercar prepared by 2013 Bathurst 1000 winners Ford Performance Racing. By recording the fastest individual lap time, Hazelwood claimed the ultimate prize - a testing contract with FPR plus a drive in the Dunlop Series in a Shannons-sponsored V8 Supercar. At the start of the 2013 series, eight contestants were split into two teams each comprising four rookies, headed by Ford Performance Racing’s V8 Supercar drivers and team captains Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom. Grand finalists Hazelwood and Macrow were the last of eight contestants remaining after a series of point-scoring challenges and a semi-final fought out over the previous seven weeks. 31 year old Macrow carried winning momentum into the grand final, after a peerless performance for Team Davison in the point-scoring rounds with four wins from seven challenges. Hazelwood’s path to the finals was in complete contrast, having finished the point-scoring rounds in last place and relying on his skipper Will Davison’s “gut instinct” Captain’s Choice to get him through. Macrow was first to hit the track in the grand final and showed plenty of class in his initial five-lap session with a fast and mistake-free drive that threw down the gauntlet to his younger opponent. A clearly nervous Hazelwood struggled to match Macrow’s speed in his first session, describing it as “pretty scrappy” but confident he could calm his nerves and improve in the final run. Macrow showed he was also feeling the heat of grand final fever in his last five-lap stint, locking a front brake and running off the circuit before recovering for a strong finish. Hazelwood really got his act together in the last session and put everything on the line, impressing judges Winterbottom and Davison with his focus, discipline and speed under enormous pressure. Todd’s winning margin of less than .01 of a second – the blink of an eye – showed how closely matched the two grand finalists were and how either driver would have been a deserving winner of the 2013 Shannons Supercar Showdown. There are a few articles online suggesting that Nizpro are developing a kit using the EFR8374 and EFR9180, but as there are a few different exhaust housing styles for both turbochargers, we cannot confirm it is identical to what we have listed. The turbocharger itself is exactly the same, but in order to supply exactly what Nizpro are using, you will need to find out what exhaust housing they are using.

The EFR line of turbochargers was born out of an internal BorgWarner Turbo Systems program labeled Advanced Aftermarket Products or AAP. The program was engineered by a cross-functional team that began with the proverbial clean-sheet of paper. No legacy products, no preconceived notions of what a turbocharger could or could not have; no restrictions. The aerodynamics for the product line were selected using a range of optimized combinations that would give users turbocharger solutions anywhere between 250 and 1000 horsepower capability per turbo.
