  1. Happy Birthday young 01!

  2. As mentioned on other posts I have Race Brake street pads on DBA4000 T3 Trac Spec rotors and they have been great. Very little dust, quiet (couple of squeals in reverse and that is all), and stop great. Plus they appear to be easy on the rotors.
  3. I had another post going on the same subject (would insert a link if I had any clue)! I replaced mine at the same distance with the new DBA4000 T3 Club Spec rotors and Race Brake pads (I assume you have standard 4 pots?). The exact cost was on my post but from memory I spent about $650 in total doing them myself, been on a couple of months and have been fantastic. Would recommend this combo to anyone; no noise (so far), minimal brake dust and stops just as well as the original setup.
  4. I beg to differ on the wheels. Just looked at a side shot of the poor excuse they are calling the Black and a stock GT and the wheels are identical, just painted black . I for one don't mind the style of these wheels and think they look better in the flesh but it just proves that they didn't put too much thought into this one! For what it's worth I was never a fan of the hockey stripes however I think the matt black ones on the show car looked pretty cool.
  5. I have been using Race Brake pads in my 4 pot Brembo calipers along with the DBA 4000 T3 Club Spec rotors for the last couple of months and couldn't be happier. I have had no noise and a very small amount of brake dust compared with the factory Ferrodo pads. Would suggest giving the guys at Race Brakes a call.
  6. I agree with every single comment so far. What a complete waste of time and I'm not sure what our friends at Ford were thinking? How can they leave out the main items that made the show car a viable option from a regular GT. What everyone is asking for is wider rear rubber/rims, a decent handling package and a body kit that differentiates a limited run of only 125 cars. It is very obvious after reading that Ford have waved the white flag in the chase for the Late model camira that they have also given up on listening to their customers (you know, the ones who actually buy your cars and not the print media who constantly bag them). Very lame FoMoCo

    Good Pads

Try Race Brakes in Melbourne, I am pretty sure they would have a set to suit the standard discs? I have had a set on the F6 with the new DBA T3 rotors and couldn't be happier. Very little brake dust compared to the OEM factory setup and from what I hear they last longer and don't wear out the rotors anywhere near as much.
  8. Yeah I will cop that Bomber! Although to be honest I bought the F6 as something fun to drive for work as I'm on the road most of the day, not a show pony or weekend driver. If that was the case I would spend the extra on high octane, engine modding, etc (although I like, and need a bit to often, my factory warranty). That said I have run multiple tanks on 98 and to be honest noticed no real difference (my opinion only, please don't blog about dyno results), and at 14c a litre more I am more than happy to be a tight arse
  9. My F6 sedan is an auto and most of my driving is mixed, it constantly returns high 11's/low 12's and even when pushing it I still haven't seen it go over 14 on a tank. It is factory stock and I mostly use E10 (it has travelled over 50,000 k's and struggle to pay the price for 98 Octane). If doing long country trips it will easily sit high 8's.

    Dba 4000 Rotors

Thanks DBASteve, The T3 rotors have been on the car for nearly a month now and they have been awesome. So far we have had no squealing, no shudder and they stop on a dime. I also have to mention how good the Race Brake pads have been; considering they pull me up just as well as the factory set (Ferodo I believe) I am stunned at how little brake dust these things produce, I should have put these on the day I picked up the car! I would recommend this setup to anyone when it's time for change over.
  11. It has now been over a month since I had the fix carried out on the ZF and it still hasn't missed a beat. It feels so much smoother when driving, fuel economy is a fraction higher but well worth the trade off. Very happy camper and back in love with the F6 again
  12. For what it's worth I would go the GT, no question. If someone gave me a GS I wouldn't knock it back but I wouldn't swap my F6 for one that's for sure, looks like an XR8 to anyone not in the know. Other than everything else listed above don't forget you also get the 335KW engine and not the 315

    Dba 4000 Rotors

Hey everyone. FYI I fitted a set of the new DBA4000 T3 Club Spec rotors along with some Race Brakes "street" pads on the weekend. Had originally order the standard left/right slotted 4000's from my local Repco dealer, went to pick them up on Saturday and they had ordered 1 x front and 1 x rear disc ! The sales guy then went to the back of the store and pulled out a set of these T3's with the same part # but no left or right marking, he had no idea what they were, could find nothing on the DBA website and couldn't get onto his DBA rep to find out. After a bit of stress I ended up taking a punt and grabbed them. On the drive home I called DBA in Sydney and spoke with a machinist and he explained these had only been out a short time, were not directional and that I would love them. Anyway when I got home I ripped the Brembo's out (45,000K's of regular street driving and totally stuffed), installed the new gear, bedded in the brakes and after a couple of hundred k's initial results are great. I never had any issues with the factory setup and to be honest so far I have noticed no real difference, which is fine by me. I am just hoping these last a lot longer and produce less dust. By the way I ended up paying $200 for the set of pads and $207 for each rotor (they charged me the same as what they quoted for the standard DBA4000 slotted discs, not sure if that was right?) but pretty happy with the overall price. Has anyone else fitted these and what are their thoughts?
  14. Picked up the F6 yesterday, driven about 70 k's and have noticed a massive difference. Not sure what exactly the guy from ZF did but the gear changes are barely noticable and it hasn't (touch wood) had the 2nd to 1st downshift problem, or the sudden bang at hwy speed when you plant your foot . I am sure the shift points have been changed as it appears to hold gear longer before upshifting, so maybe a little more fuel use but I will cop that over the alternative. It still feels like it shifts into 1st at a similar speed to before however it does does it without the lag/clunk. Here's hoping my persistence has paid off!
  15. Time to rehash my old thread. The F6 is down at my local Ford dealer as I type so the dude from ZF can come along and flash the auto with a new update they have just finished. I will drive it for a week or 2 and keep you informed. Fingers crossed!
  16. Yeah James it sucks! After all I read on how great the ZF 6 speed was I must say I was pretty disappointed. If they do come up with a fix it will go along way in restoring my faith (now if only they can sort out the shorting out ICC screen )
  17. After months of complaining to the local Ford service centre after my original post I have just received a phone call saying that ZF are aware of this issue and it is something that is happening in only the turbo cars (Both XR and F6). They are in the middle of coming up with a fix that should be ready sometime in March/April. I believe it is a software issue and I will update the post after the guy from ZF has carried out this fix, fingers crossed it does the trick because it's at the point of embarrassing when I have anyone in the car.
  18. The temp sensor on our F6 was about 8 degrees out when we picked her up so Ford changed the mirror under warranty, now accurate. About 6 weeks ago the A/C didn't want to play and would blow uneven temps for the dual zone (if passenger was warmer/driver colder it would be reversed) and even on its coldest setting on a 30 degree day it was not cooling the cabin. Went back to Ford (again) and they found some of the internal flaps had broken, had to replace a couple of these and now works great. Apparently even when calling for full cooling the heating vent wasn't fully closing and it wouldn't get below 27 degrees. The service guy at Ford mentioned it was a pretty common problem so something to keep an eye out for.
  19. My auto does the exact same thing. More noticable after it has been sitting at work for a couple of hours, start it up and drive for about 1-2k's to the freeway and then when I get to 100 it surges for about 5-10 seconds, every single time! I had the dealer check it out and they said nothing showed up (same answer I get with most issues). Car has done 35,000k's and I think it will just keep doing it until the day it goes. I have tried different brands of fuel and different octane ratings and it make no difference. Between this, the clunky auto, the ICC screen than winks at me every 10 minutes and the climate control vents that work when they feel like it my wifes words are ringing in my ears "it's a quick car but at the end of the day it's just a taxi!!!"

    V8Supercars

Don't we already have that? It's called the Australian GT Championship, not bad racing and my 11 year old loves watching high end cars get trashed but just like the Le Mans series you have no idea who is in what position due to the number of classes in one race. Lets face it, most series are like the V8's and have different bodies on virtually the same chassis. For example Nascar, Indy Car, F1, etc, etc. My opinion (and that's all it is) is I don't give a sh*t if all the cars are the same as long as the racing is close, they don't mind rubbing panels and they leave the politics to Canberra as this is what tends to tear most racing series apart and is becoming more of a problem in the V8 series. I'm sure you are right on this. I just remember thinking at the time that it was a sad day for motorsport and unfortunately showed what pricks we Aussies can be as spectators. That is my opinion and I still cringe watching the replays!

As they say "you can't please everyone!" the funny thing is when you think back to the days of the production cars, Godzilla, Sierra, etc everyone at the time was bitching that the racing was too spread out and also that most people couldn't relate to the cars on the track. Also how could we forget Jimmy Richards and his "you're all a pack of bastards" comment? I agree the cars are the same underneath with different panel bolted on but it is controls type racing and most things are kept the same to maintain close racing. You just need to look at the German DTM series and see that we are not the only ones with a limited make series. Regarding the weekend just gone I thought it was a great couple of days racing and the spectical of seeing some quality International drivers made for some entertaining viewing. Just a shame the wrong camp triumphed in the end
  22. From what I can remember the list is: 1983 Z28 Camaro, 305 Cross Fire Injection (spent way too much money, my 1st car for 8 years and as horrible as it was still my favorite) VB SLE 4.2 (piece of crap but had to sell the Chev to furnish our first house ) 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee (great family wagon, 280k's and never missed a beat) 1997 Mazda 626 manual hatch (lowered with 17's that were massive back in the day, fun car) 2001 Ford Escape (Not a bad thing, thought they should have sold better than they did?) Sold cars for a few years so had various Holden, HSV and Volvo demo's. 2005 Subaru Outback sitting on a nice set of 20's (needed something to tow the ski boat but it was a bit of an old mans car!) Latest beast is a 2009 FG F6 sedan in black (wicked car, has it's flaws but all overlooked when you hit the loud pedal!) Although the most memorable set of wheels I ever owned was my 1983 CW racing Phase 1 bmx, now that thing was awesome!!!
  23. Love my F6 but it don't sound like that! I may need to steal the slogan from the dark side and say "I just want one"
  24. PERFECT! Variant 2 is exactly the issue I'm having, problem is that if it's been going on that long and they still haven't found a solution I think I will have to learn to live with it although I will still push the dealer as it can be pretty severe. Thanks again for you help on this.
  25. Thanks guys for the replies. Steve, it would be great if you could dig up the link for the Jag, sounds exactly like my problem, I think I will push the dealer harder for a change over. I like the idea of manually shifting although with this being my first Ford I am struggling to get use to the reverse shift pattern.
