  5. I have a project FG XR6T motor that I picked up for real cheap. I have plans to play with it in a drag car or boat - but want to know.... Has anyone ever tried to run XR6 on 100% methanol. I know I will have to change compression and timing amongst other things. But if you have done it or any % mix then what did you find. Or has any one tried to run 98RON pump fuel then add 10% or more methanol? Im asking as I have a good supply of methanol through a mate that runs BAD boats so running a fuel that cost me $0 is great. Dave
  6. So no one has tried 245x40 R18 Michelin Bridgestone BlueStreak - I have on a trailer but they are super cheap - not keen on tyres for car. BFG goodrich Pirelli ETC I know they all have different wear ratings. But after personal choice - why - how many K's you got. Thanks Dave
  7. Im currently on the look out for some new tyres for my FG XR6T I am quite happy with the Dunlop SP3000A 245/40 x 18 that came with it from factory. I have managed to get 45K out of them and it has not been the easiest of driving. Towing a trailer (about 1.2 Tonne) from townsville to Bris 3 times a year and the usual hard acceleration for a kick every now and then. I'd like to get some thoughts on whats out there.... been searching threads for info but cannot find to much. The car wont be doing any track work, just need a quality tyre. Happy to pay up to $300 a wheel. I know that I can get the Dunlop SP3000A 245/40 x 18 cheap, and am happy to stick with them as they are ok. But it never hurts to ask. Thanks Dave

  9. Bud, No disrespect to you, but do yourself a favour. Get a S*%T box 4cyl car, learn to drive for a few years then upgarde to a turbo when... 1 - you will be able to handle power 2 - ensurance will be cheaper Its really not worth the fines, hassel to convert or worse you life or someone elses for ownership of a XR6T. Just my 2cents besides - you will be able to save a bucket load of cash and buy a new XR6T in a few years when driving a car that runs on the smell of an oily rag. Dave
  10. I had my diff replaced as it had a whine about 80 - 90kmph. Nothing like you have mentioned. In saying that - if under warrenty ford should be replacing it. Especially if you took it to them and they said it was ok to drive but limit it as much as possible. It took ford about 4 hours to do my Diff. I had them look at a few other things at the same time, so it might take less. Glad I did take it in as its been not 6 months and no other issues. (touch wood) Dave
  11. Nice, I like that colour. There is one like that floating around my area, with 18inch wheels on it and looks very sharp. I think I will have to stick with my Breeze FG XR6T for a while yet though. Dave
  12. I was talking with ford yesterday cause I was getting a new diff in my XR6T Asked how good the ZF was and how much can it take when I start to modify my car. 'His reply was fantastic. But its at its limit on about 800-850NM torque. It will survive over that but for how long is anyones guess'. Dave
  13. New diff went in today. They even gave me a loan car to get to work and back. Car works even better now. Smooth as, no issues any more. Definatly was diff noise. Ford also noticed that the weather shields were coming unstuck. Restuck them on for me at no cost. Good service.
  14. Took my FG XR6T 09 model in for its 30K service. Had a few things that I wanted ford to look at - including the diff. The mechanic when we went for a drive said nar is all the ZF cause it wouldnt do it for that split second when changing gears. Its a real pain at 95kmph, 4th, 5th or 6th gear. after they had my car for 7 hours they finally came back and said to me that year they were now sure it was the diff. One for customer and forum (wouldnt have know what to look for unless I read it here) nill for ford. So it goes in for new diff in a weeks time. Painfully really cause I dont rape my car. Sure it gets pushed every now and then but nothing stupid. Cannot aford to replace it. Plus one though for Ford. At least I didnt have to push to get them to fix it. Went really smooth. Does help when you take the car in the spotless. Sten - this was carmichael ford townsville also. Had super service with them so far. Didnt get the car there either. Better then when I had my FG ute from Byrne ford Kedron/Chermside in Brisbane.
  15. Was just surfing Youtube and found this Wheels look very simular
