  1. Hey all, Got a strange sound which I believe is coming from clutch/gearbox area (hard to locate) and unsure what it could be. I have got a 6 speed manual, the clutch was replaced approximatly 18 months ago with a organic high torque clutch. I have had an issue a few times when the gearbox is cold it is almost impossible to select any gear to the point it feels as if I have to almost snap the gear stick to force it into gear, this was also accompanied by the clutch having almost no play in it at all. As the car warmed it retured to its normal operation. As it only happened a few times I thought it may have just been my syncros not lining up properly and was not to concerened. Over the last week I have been hearing what I can only describe as a swirling sound (bearing noise?) coming from my passenger footwell which can also be heard from outside the car louder on the passenger side. This noise is not consistant and can be heard at different speeds in different gears, however it will not be pressent continuously and seems to happen more when I am not accelerating (maybe I can just hear it better?). The sound will also stop when the clutch pedal is pressed in, and will stop when I am not in gear. I dont have any other issues with the clutch/gearbox operation. Could this be a possible thrust bearing issue? Thanks , Andrew
  2. Happy Birthday andyxr6t!

  3. Hey all Over the past few weeks I have had some strange problems with my dash. What happens first is the traction control light comes on without any reason, followed sometimes by both my tacho and spedo drpping to 0 for a shot period of time. Usually within a kilometer or two of driving they kick back in and work normally. However over the last few days I have had this problem followed by all my warning lights all switching on (ABS, engine, etc) fuel and water temps zero out. The car seems to continue to function fine however to fix this I have to pull over switch off the car and restart. I have had this problem when I first bought the car two years ago (when it was stock) and it didn't do it again so I didn't think anything of it, however I am a bit more concerned now it seems to be happening again and more regularly. On 2 separate occasions over the last few days I have also had my fuel indicator 0 out suddenly triggering a low fuel warning when I have a full tank with no leaks. This slowly rises again after a minute or two. I am thinking my first problem could be related to a dodgy dash cluster as if my computer was on its way out actual engine management would suffer not just the dash? Could my fuel light problem also be linked or is that more likely to be the sender unit or sensor? Would an auto electrician be able to diagnose a dash fault? Unfortunately it happens randomly so it would be hard for me to show someone to diagnose. Thanks Andrew.
  4. btw, definitely up for a cruise early October.
  5. Thanks guys, was talking to a friend of a friend who is a police officer, he confirmed what you said. Ryan, was a bit of bad timing to be honest, was turning onto a main road from a side street in the rain with a tad to much throttle, stepped out slightly. Pretty much right at that moment a highway pulled up at the opposite corner. He turned and followed me so I just pulled over. He fined me for having my fog lights on, and just a usual car search. I guess I was lucky he could have been a real bastard I suppose. Anyways lesson learned, have to throw some more weight in the back next rain lol. Mitch, you mind me asking what they charge for engineering certificates? Andrew.
  6. Guys, Got a quick questions. I was defected tonight for my exhaust being under 100mm from the ground, and my BOV vented to atmosphere (according to the police). I have no worries about getting these cleared but was just concerned he has only given me until Monday evening to have this fixed. I know I cannot drive after this point but if I don't have this cleared by then does my car become unregistered? Thanks Andrew
  7. Turns out I had a few loose turbo bolts. All torqued and back in action Thanks for the help guys Andrew.
  8. Thanks Gasman, Its booked in at the tuners early next week, will have a look before hand to try narrow down the problem. Andrew.
  9. Ive had a quick look, but didn't look at the full intake as I though a boost leak would be present all the time not just in bursts. I will have a good look tomorrow. It defiantly happens in quick repetitive short bursts, about 2 a second until I drop off the gas. Andrew.
  10. Hey all, Last few days I have noticed a strange hissing noise at higher RPM. The hissing happens in short bursts(about 2 bursts a second)and I have only noticed it in higher gears under hard acceleration. The car has been tuned for well over 6 months and I haven't noticed this before, and was just unsure if it was something I should get checked out? It sounds as if the waste gate it dumping extra boost, however shouldn't the computer be controlling it better? Thanks for your help Andrew
  11. Thanks guys, ill check my boost sensor and lines when I get a chance this weekend. My only mods since the tune are an installation of boost and oil temp gauges. There was trouble with the stock actuator when tuning and a replacement was fitted, so I hope there isn't any problems there. Looking at my dyno printout, my peak boost would be no higher then 12.5 or 13psi (difficult to make out on the printout) My car was tuned at backtrack using a SCT 3 Flash Device, the power delivery is smooth much like the tune was, just packs more punch when it fully spools.
  12. I haven't been able to get a hold of Justin yet so maybe you guys might be able to offer some insight. My car was tuned on 12 - 12.5 psi and all seemed good when I installed my boost gauge, as everything read where it was meant to. However the last few days I have noticed a jump in psi (13 - 14psi), I put it down to the cooler weather of a night however this afternoon driving home it was reaching 15psi. The car did accelerate more aggressively so I don't think it could be a gauge error, but an actual increase in psi. Any suggestions what could have caused this? or am I worrying about nothing? Andrew.
  13. Thanks Mitch, that pretty much sums up what happened. What would you guys recommended in the way of clutches? my car is daily so I wouldn't want anything to heavy if I can avoid it. Would a Mal Wood option be my best bang for buck?
  14. Hey guys, Hopefully you guys can help me out, Tonight I gave my car a bit of a squirt and all seemed well until my RPM suddenly jumped rapidly and I felt what seemed like a loss of acceleration. This has happened once before since my tune, and I put it down to a loss of traction as the Ute tends to be all to comfortable with that these days. Forgive me for being a novice here, but could this be my clutch slipping? The clutch is fine slow speed and low gear acceleration (soft and hard). I am still running the stock clutch and know it needs an upgrade, but just want to ensure you guys don't think it is anything else. Thanks Andrew
  15. Picked up my car this morning from Blacktack It's now making 317.7rwkw. The ute feels like a whole new car, certainly livened it up a bit. Have to give it a clean and get some photos up. Andew
  16. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it now. Car will still be at Blacktrack. Had problems controlling boost, the actuator I believe and wont be ready till next week. Was so keen to unleash my new power too. Always next time. Hope the weather forecast keeps good for you guys, take plenty of photos. Andrew.
  17. Its a 2005 BF Utility, unfortunately out of warranty . Everything in the engine is stock excluding a growler induction kit and turbo smart BOV, both of which have been on for many months. Was weird, there wasn't really a safe area to immediately pull over, so I was still driving for some time. The engine continued to work as normal, although I was very easy on the throttle. Andrew
  18. Hey guys, This afternoon when traveling from Sydney on the freeway I had what seemed like a ECU crash. I was cruising along when I felt a jolt from the throttle, looked down to see my speedo stop working, and all dash illumination turn off. Accessories, radio, windscreen wipers, and the engine all continued to work. As I was waiting for a area to pull over, all the emergency warning lights came on (after approx 2 - 3 minutes) This continued for a short while before everything seemed to reboot and come back online (except traction control) I eventually pulled over, restarted the car and all seemed normal for the remainder of the trip. I have had a similar incident about a month ago when I started the car to find all emergency lights staying on. This was fixed with another restart and I did not think anything else of it. Has anyone else had similar incident? Any thoughts as to what it could be? Thanks Andrew
  19. Count me in for sure. please add name to list:- Mitch (dat40t) Jen (MZL45H) Ryan (Rhino1980) Dan Eckert (eggman85) Tim Makin Some other bloke from Dan's work Dan (FIERCE) Josh, chauffeured by Jenna (Josh_P) Andrew (andyxr6t)
  20. Adam, Thanks for your reply, may have to have a fiddle around with it. Just concerned about bits falling into the box. Thanks Andrew.
  21. Guys, Unfortunately when replacing the reverse sensor after a transmission oil change I have struck a problem. The reverse sensor has snapped white tightening with minimal force, the internals of the sensor have come out however the external threaded casing remains in the gearbox. Thought I would ask if you guys know any tricks of the trade to remove this threaded casing allowing me to just replace the sensor. I have a feeling I am screwed and will require it to be toed and pulled apart by a specialist?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Andew.
  22. Thanks for the advice guys, clears a few things up. Andrew.
  23. It's a 2005 BF. I'm looking at a target of 300rwkw at this stage. I haven't got any intention of dag racing. My main concern was as people have been stating about fuel supply issues as they ramp the power up. Thanks.
  24. Nice figure there Mitch!, Well done. Andrew.
