  1. We went on a weekend (Sunday) was around ten cars out in the session. Was enough to have a bit of friendly competition and few enough to stay away from risk of panel damage. Not that, that would really happen anyway unless someone tries something stupid. At the end of the day it's all good fun and good to run against other cars / drivers and stay safe.
  2. Yokohama Advan Sport V103's here. Expensive @ $420 each and soft. Grip like stink on a monkey though.
  3. I run Yokohama Advan Sport V103's x 18's and they are an incredible tyre. While the cost is up there at $420 per tyre, the grip level in the wet and dry is awesome. Looking at the tread pattern of your tyres, I don't see too much of a difference between the two, however there could be some differences in compound. Not that I am a tyre expert, but my understanding is this: Soft compound tyre = high grip level, but less tyre life = higher cost Harder compound tyre = less grip level, but longer tyre life = less cost I only got 16,000 K out of my back tyres so went back to Bob Jane and whinged and they replaced them at 50% discoun so couldn't be happier. The front ones still have plenty of meat at 22,000 k (or there abouts) Obviously they won't wear evenly being a 'T' I guess it's up to the individual to find a happy medium and of course keeping price in mind. Having said that, to have a high grip tyre makes for more driving fun IMO and when you think about it, could almost be considered a mod'. I did a track day at Wakefield Park not long ago and these tyres performed incredibly well. They stick like stink on a monkey. How was your track day? any rain?
  4. Yep, get 'em from Ford they should be cheap. God, how would you snap 4 wheel studs?
  5. Call your insurance company a.s.a.p. If you hve pics or vids, all the better. If you don't, I would suggest a witness statement. good luck. Would be interested to hear about the outcome.
  6. Nice one..........I can guarantee the experience of owning a car like this just gets better.
  7. Yeah it's a reasonably cheap day for the experience. I went ok.......they've been a few times before so they had the advantage of experience and being younger than me they're bloody fearless. Having said that, to get to 160+ k's on the staright was a buzz no matter what. My XRT is basically stock other than lowered suspension. The handling under high speed conditions is just incredible.
  8. So the day at Wakefield has been done and dusted. What an experience. Defenitely something that I can recommend. While I guess I may have been a bit over cautious at some points of the track, (I care for my car) it is an incredibly way to experience the limitations of your own car. I was lucky enough not to experience and dirt, but admit to coming close a few times. I had a grin from ear to ear by the end of the day and to go head to head with my sons (1 x SS VE Ute with heaps of mods & Skyline R34 GT) was awesome. Oh yeah the 'fish hook' definitely keeps you awake and the first corner at the end of the straight comes at you pretty quickly. The cost for me as a first timer was $170 including helmet hire (left a credit card as dep' instead of $50 cash) and included a licence for 12mths. Over the course of the whole day, there were 5 sessions (approx 6-8 laps per session) for street cars with around an hour break in between. Highly recommended to anyone who seriously wants to see what their car is capable of in a safe environment.
  9. Apparently $220 for the day. Includes helmet hire, I've not been before but my sons have.
  10. Am doing a 'Track Day' in late January with my sons at Wakefield Park NSW (near Goulburn). I've not been before so was wondering if anyone here has done it. From what I hear it can be loads of fun in a reasonably controlled environment.
  11. I like the colour. Looks darker than Nitro but lighter than Sensation. I just don't think the FG2 has the agressive look that the FG1 has. Makes me feel happy with my FG1 Nitro. Not that I wasn't in the first place. On another note, there seems to be a few floating around on the roads from the pics posted here, yet I haven't seen any ads for showroom models. Essgee.
  12. Car looks awesome mate. Who did your air intake? and what dollars were involved? Essgee
  13. Definitely not a head turne IMO. I saw this link yesterday and noticde some tweeks with F6 (wheel upgrade) & GS( series 2 front end) http://www.fpv.com.au/f6_showroom/f6# The F6 is definitely sex on wheels. ......."F6, I JUST WANT ONE"
  14. Yeah definitely worth a few bucks for the return. Fantatstic site, well done to all involved.
  15. Yeah I have with all symptoms you.ve described. Was a flat battery.
  16. Update on this post: Fog lamp lenses, bent glove box lid and loose door rubber all replaced under warranty. They reckon the blue tooth issue is due to a module upgrade needed as at time of build the current one was the latest technology. Due to phone technology moving ahead it needs to be upgraded = $620.00. I declined the offer to upgrade and it seems they've done some kind of reset and the problem has gone anyway. Bluetooth issue has disappeared. Was pretty happy until I noticed the bent front number plate due to it being reversed into or wedged up against something.....can't prove it so no point whining.
  17. I use my own trusted mechanic and let Ford bend me over for tha majors or warranty issues. Everyone to their own as long as you keep within the boundaries of the warranty it's all good.
  18. Mine is a mid 09 build and my fog lamps are milky. Am about to book in for a pre end of warranty check. I will be whining about the lenses and expect them to be changed under warranty. Other issues are crap blue tooth phone syncing. I just replaced the metal dust covers behind the back wheels (non turbo's have them on front as well) as they were covered in surface rust. I reckon they should be covered under warranty, but for $12 each, no real drama. Can't think of anything else atm.
  19. I'm interested in changing my side mirrors from standard to the ones with the indicator in them ie: 50th Anniversary type. Mines an FG XRT Nitro. Has anyone done this mod before and can provide feedback? A couple of questions spring to mind...... 1. Do they come pre-painted as a genuine spare part from Ford? 2. Is there a plug located in the existing wiring loom to connect the new blinker once the new ones are installed 3. Does anyone know what they're worth new or the availability of mirrors second hand. Just throwing this idea around at the moment.
  20. I think my point was missed here. My point was thst I actually agree with you. It seems if someone drives a G6 they are automatically stereotyped as being 'mature aged'. I don't think that's the case at all. Just my opinion, so apolgies if my point was lost in translation and if any offence was taken. Not that I own a G6e Turbo or a cardigan. Wish I did though. (a G6ET I mean) Essgee
  21. Hi Mate, Could be a number of things. My guess is you've plugged the fridge into a normal GPO (powerpoint) in the garage. Have a look in your power board and see if theres a dedicated 'fridge' ciruit breaker which is for the kitchen fridge. If there is, then try running your new acquired fridge from that power point via an extension lead and see how you go. Most modern houses these days have a dedicated fridge circuit which is not connected to the 'safety switch' circuit for a few reasons. All fridges have what is called a mullion heater which is basically a heater strip around the door to prevent sweating and to help the door rubber sealing nicely. When there is moisture present (sometimes from a fridge being turned off and defrosting when transported) a small amount of moisture can come into contact with the door heater and cause nuisance tripping of the safety switch. The electrical short isn't enough to get a shock, but will be enough to trip your safety switch. The nuisance trip can be caused by similar faults (eg: moisture in the t/stat etc and will continue to occurr unless you get it wired to a dedicated fridge circuit (GPO). Please be aware though, if the fridge is tripping the main circuit breaker (20amp) the fault is more serious. Take a Look at FiFi and then the fridge. Decide which one is more important to you, her or the fridge........electrocution is ugly, and not worth a second hand beer fridge. Hope this helps. Essgee (I'm a fridgie)
  22. Quite interesting to see this topic about wheels also include comments about age and who likes what and what would suit who. I'm 49 and own an FG XR6T and certainly not lookin at dropping in to Target for a cardigan and slidiung into an G6. Everyone has their own individual taste and I think the younger guys who own G6 turbo's and like the sleeper look is awesome. My ambition once I finished with my current ride is to own an F6, they're a beautiful car. Essgee
  23. Not sure if anyone has experienced the same issue: Mine is an FG XR6T When I recieve a call and press the phone symbol on the steering wheel the call connects and I can hear the caller clearly for around 15 seconds. The call then mutes and the call appears to have dropped out. After around 10 seconds the caller can be heard and connection stays for the duration of the call. If I answer the call by pressing the answer button directly on the phone, the call is fine with no drop out. This has happened with 3 different phones, so it's not the phone. The phone I have connected now, was fine for the first couple of days, however the issue re-occured. Any clues? Essgee
