  1. Cheers for the update HIRO, just read the press release, would of been a good rumour a couple of weeks ago. I think FPR might still be looking to expand and either one of those GRM drivers would make a good addition, they've shown good speed at times this year.
  2. G'day Guys, well the latest rumour floating around is that FPR will create a super team next year to help combat the ever growing Expensive Daewoo teams and the diminishing Ford teams apprently organiser aren't thrilled about the growing ratio of Holden:Ford teams. Guess what names been whispered as the new, extra driver for FPR.....wait for it......Garth Tander, of course this is just a rumour but watch this space. Tander, always did like that guy, lol, funny how a new uniform with a blue oval on it can improve a mans appearance.
  3. Yeah the cooler definately looks the bizzo in black, mine arrived a few days ago, I'm impressed with the quality of the construction and welds, it's a fairly heavy unit also, what's that line out of Snatch "Heavy good, Heavy iz reliable". I also got the same story that local stock was damaged, mine came direct from Hong Kong, no stamp but all the paperwork is genuine HDI, also go the bar and plate explanation about the stamping. The price is excellent, it will be interesting to see the performance and repeatability. I've got no doubt that the site sponsors products are better designed and have had a lot more R & D testing and realworld testing done, you've only got to look at the proven results, but as far as the "you get what you pay for" comments are concerned that is only true to a degree, the main reason that stuff that comes from China is cheaper is predominately manufacturing costs, people cost money and in China they don't get paid much, it allows them to make a product of similar quality to the local manufacturers but sell it at a greatly reduced price, not particulary great for Aussie small business. Prime example is; my brother installs timber blinds, they used to make them in Australia, a very high quality product but a couple of years ago they outsourced there products to a manufacturer in China, they send there orders there and they come ready to install and the products are still as good as quality as what they were when they were made here. I think this is the case with the HDI coolers good product, good materials, made by people who get paid SFA, then sold at an extremely competative price. Good for us blokes who are on a bit of shoe string, just not so great for the Aussie. Oh well when the budget allows I'll be going for one of the sites sponsors bigger and better products.
  4. Yep there was no surprise here when I heard this. Think I'm more disappointed that Lowndes is going back to Expensive Daewoo as I honestly believe he would prefer to be driving the blue ovals brand. In the end he's chosen to sign with team vodafone and they've decided to change. I've enjoyed the dominance of Team Vodafone over the last couple of years but they really haven't promoted Ford at all, I can't remember the last time I heard them pass on a thanks to Ford. Sponsors expect bang for their buck and in this money driven world winning isn't the only thing you have to do. Oh well, times change, nothing to say 888 are going to be the magic bullet that Expensive Daewoo expect them to be, it's going to be hard to go back to hating Lowndes, no so Whinncup, he always comes across as being bit arrogant and this crap about would you work for someone if they weren't paying is a joke, Whinncup is employed by Team Vodafone not Ford, Ford have their factory team and drivers. As for Ford pulling money on teams I'm pretty sure they were still offering support to all the teams that had previously to a lesser degree, all the teams new a while ago, I remember Roland Dane and Dick Johnson saying that it was about one third of there budget, ye that's a lot but saying there not giving you anything isn't true. Like others have already said the old win on Sunday sell on Monday just isn't true, the very reason that Ford has redirected there funding is because there reporting has shown that it's not as bigger factor as it once was, so you can't blame them. If they wanted to shaft Expensive Daewoo and V8SC they could withdraw from the series all togeather, I don't think Expensive Daewoo fans would be to interested in watching one Expensive Daewoo beat another, I don't know about you but I can't go 30 seconds watching the many Porsche cup races, makes me wanna throw a VB bottle at the TV. I don't think you have to worry about teams that are currently supported by Team Vodafones engineering department, as far as I'm aware they'll continue to supply FG tech support and chasis design to the likes of DJR, this is one of there biggest income streams now. Expensive Daewoo on the other hand, now this is rumor granted but apparently they pulled out all the stops to secure team vodafone and threw massive amounts of cash at them, now that there signed they have to work out how they can afford it, rumour has suggested that they may withdraw support for GRM and BOC, that would be a ball buster for Brad Jones. Anyway sorry for the long winded post, as for me I'll continue to follow the mighty Fords, I've always followed the brand and not the drivers, it was fords awesome cars of the past and the present that attracts me to them, the cars that we can buy are miles in front of the Team Red and at the end of the day that's what matters most to me. For all the people that have said they'll jump ship or give there support to vodafone still, ohh well each to their own, my bloods blue and always will be, I guess yours is red. Ps. Ford Bring back Ambrose........(the whisper is possibly 2011/12).....the rumour mill at it's finest.
  5. Yeah Menace is definately one of those colours that you either love or hate, you don't hear to many people sitting on the fence when it comes to thing in the purple spectrum. Car was brought in WA, yep from a yard, it was a Victorian car originally, think it came over early last year. Looked at a few and got to the point where I had to take the plunge, plus I wanted to trade the old girl in (AU XR6) that had 312 000 klm on it so it wouldn't of been to attractive in the private market. I'll be sure to get in on the WA chat to see what's going on around the area. Thanks for the positive comments all.
  6. Yeah like many others it was Ford Forums that directed me here. Outstanding.
  7. G'day everyone just wanted to introduce myself, I've been browsing these forums for quite a while and now that I've purchased a BF Typhoon I thought it was time to get amongst it. The info I've found on this forum has been extremely valuable leading up to my purchase, it's absolute gold dust. The car in question is a 2006 BF Typhoon, ZF 6 speed, in Menace, it came with a CAPA Flash tuner although I'm not sure if it's been custom tuned or just running generics, the box was purchased from CAPA by INTUNE in Sydney so I've got no idea if the intune guys did a custom tune for a customer or not, that aside the car goes awesome, blows me away every time I go for a drive, the difference between my brothers BAII XR6T and the Typhoon feels like a lot more than 40 KW using the old seat of the pants method. Anyway it didn't take long for the mods bug to bite and after researching this forum and what other people have recommended I purchased some Siemens 60 lbs injectors, a Walbro pump and a HDI Hybrid intercooler kit, although given the chance I probably would of gone for Process West of Rapids Intercooler mainly due to how much R & D those guys have put in to their products. I don't think I'll have to many problems reaching my goal of 280 - 300 reliable and repeatable RWKW once it's all installed and retuned, that job will probably be given to Simon at Xtreme Ford Tuning, I've heard a lot of good reports about there operation on these forums so he'll probably get the job A big thanks to everyone that posts helpfull information regarding these cars on this forum, you've been a great help leading up to my purchase and I'm sure you will continue to be in the future, hopefully once I've got all my new gear installed and tuned I can get out on some of the WA cruise days.
  8. I think this is a good move by Ford, the new ecoboost should match the current I6 for performance provided the torque is generated low enough in the rpm range, on paper it produces more power and similar torque to the current I6 and it should be fairly frugal, that said I don't think there's any danger that the I6 is going to be dropped within the next 5 - 6 years, the money there spending to make it Euro IV compliant is significant, although they didn't really have a choice I think it's evolution will continue, nothing to suggest that it's efficiency and power won't go up either, there's still massive potential there if Ford OZ adopt a direct injection system. Ditching the local build of focus is probably a good business move as well, for the volume there selling and the price of local labor costs it should allow a more competitive price once there sourced from a South East Asian country. I guess the upside is that money is now being redistributed in to diseal Territory, the new LPG system and the eco boost range of engines. The only concern was there was no mention of the V8s future, although there probably keeping those cards close to there chest as it's still probably 12 months away, that and the fact they were really pushing the green card at the press conference.
