  1. Happy Birthday 21220!

  2. A GS modded up would be nice! Same s*** different note!

  3. Good work mate, that looks really good. I know how much effort that would have taken. This will be great to show my wife, our wagon is very ordinary looking. This will give her an idea of what a wagon should look like and hopefully plant the seed for the next round of mods.
  4. This looks good. Did a little interweb research and it looks to stack up, this is going on a lot of motorbike opinions though. Seriously considering this unless someone can explain otherwise?
  5. Thanks Kroozin Has been a fun project so far. Can't wait to surprise a few people myself, wife seems to be getting all the fun at the moment. Impellor Sorry mate, didn't end up doing a before tune run, really wanted to just to see how well the kit worked. The tuner seemed happy enough with the kit, he has no problem telling me when he thinks something is crap. Going by the internal butt dyno, I'm guessing around 20-30kw before the tune? It seemed to have a bit more go on full noise but the biggest noticeable difference was with partial throttle openings. Here it became a different car, heaps more responsive and a lot more power for the same amount of throttle compared to the stock gear. But once it was tuned, completely different car again with a lot more power everywhere!
  6. Finally got the wagon tuned. She is now running 271rwkw @ 12psi. Getting used to the 4 speed, 1st gear is friggin long lol, this is compared to the 6 speed ZF in the phoon. Anyhow, wife is very happy and starting to give a few a people a surprise off the lights. Next step, brakes and suspension.....
  7. Veva, have you heard about the Aeromotive 16306 fuel controller? I'm thinking about it as my car is mostly street and I'm also aiming for the 450kw on E85. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/turp_0902_aeromotive_fuel_pump_controller/viewall.html Link mainly sounds like a sales pitch but gives you a good idea about what it does. Anyone know if this would be worth it for street cars running A1000s?
  8. Just about to fit an aeromotive plazmaman surge as well. Went for this over the twin 44s more to do from a safety point, read somewhere on the forum about potential danger if you have one 44 fail and don't notice until you wind it up. Safer to have your car not running at all from a pump failure than 1/2 running and leaning out.
  9. Im stuffed, took me almost 10 hours yesterday to put the V3 rapids kit on my own. A lot of the time was spent putting in the new hot side pipe, PIA getting all of the alignments rights. Running around at moment on stock tune, next step will be flash, injectors, and valve springs
  10. Hey mate Sounds like the exact same exhaust setup as my wifes xr6t wagon. It is still running the stock tune and we dynoed it with the 3" cat back just to make sure AFRs were ok and it hit 182rwkw, AFRs were fine as well. I have been told by tuners that if you have the right intake mods, tune, injectors, etc you should be able to hit 300rwkw with this exhaust, my understanding is that having this exhaust restriction should help prevent over boost if this is the power level your after. If you want to go more than this though (you said 350rwkw) you will need to go bigger and probably have to think about mods to control your boost ie flapper mod. I am probably wrong and happy to be corrected lol
  11. Can you buy a 3" quad system for a BF F6? Im currently running a herrods quads setup that came with the car, have upgraded to a 3.5" split dump and hi flow cat since. Car is running 411rwkw with this setup on E85 with supporting mods. Im not positive, but I think the quad is running a 2.5" split quads after the cat, is it possible to get a 3" split and would this be the same or better then getting a 3.5" single? Im just about to buy a original typhoon single rear bumper insert, so I can run the bigger single. I still really like the idea of running quads as it adds to the WTF is that factor and also has a really nice note. Thinking of going to a 4" bell mouth dump and 3.5" or even 4" single straight through with hi flow cat. Apparently the exhaust is now the limiting factor for further power. Would like to hit 450rwkw. Still running stock turbo with billet wheel and .5 housing (soon to be upgraded to .7 housing). Cheers
  12. Still learning so please don't flame lol. Why would you use a engine oil cooler? Is it do with power levels or driving conditions? I would have thought that changing your thermostat would sort out temp issues. Honest question just trying to understand why people fit them?
  13. Fitting Rapids V3 kit to wagon this weekend

  14. Another update. Car has just had 3.45 and LSD put in diff, very good upgrade compared to the open 3.23. Hopefully this weekend will be installing the rapid V3 kit, will post some pics up while I'm doing this. Chris from Rapid has been a top bloke putting up with all my questions. WIll get another dyno run done as a baseline after the V3 kit but before tune, just curious to see the difference the kit makes on a standard stock tune. As for the aluminium tailshaft, the fact that its only going to 300rwkw and its an auto, the tailshaft should be fine. Will probably run it with this for another few weeks, then car will go in for injectors, valve springs, and tune. Hopefully will have some more pics up next week.
  15. 3.45 and LSD went in. All I can say is wow. Definitely a noticeable difference in acceleration and traction compared to before with the open 3.23. Guess this would be pretty obvious lol. So for most of you guys that already have the standard 3.45 and LSD, just leave em alone and spend your money on other upgrades. I reckon this ratio is a really good balance for the power characteristics of these motors.
  16. Regret not buying a new GtX for the phoon when I had a bearing failure. Instead I got it recondititioned with a billet weel and .7 comp housing. Would have been better off getting a brand new turbo for phoon and swapping bits and pieces around for my wifes xr6t wagon. Would have ended up with sorted turbo on wagon then.

    Big Thanks

Just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to everyone on this site. You can probably tell from my profile that I have been lurking for a while and I'm hardly a poster but the info I have gathered here has really helped with upgrading my phoon and also helped in converting my wifes xt wagon to a xr6t wagon. Everyone else who gathers info here should seriously consider helping this site out with some sort of contribution. Hope everyone keeps contributing relevant info (mods doing a good job there) and hopefully it will continue that way for all future enthusiasts. Cheers Rhys
  18. Sorting out my wife's fugen Wagon

  19. Looking at getting AFR Wideband kit and OBDII monitoring for my phoon, like playing with gadgets and looking at stats. Choices have come down to are: http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/dashdaq/dashdaq.shtml with wideband module or http://www.plxdevices.com/gauges.php looks like the PLX are out of multi guage obdii though, thought this would be good because I could fit the DM6 in one of the phoon gauges and the multi obdII in the second gauge. Plus its a bit cheaper. Otherwise it will be the dashdaq and I will sort out a custom fit. Phoon is running on E85, so im really interested in seeing whats actually happening with afrs etc. especially because im using the caltex blend. (70-85%) Was also thinking of getting the zeitronix ethanol tester kit for the tank, but in all seriousness, wtf am I going to do when is see the reading is not what I expect. that's why im leaning more towards the AFR reading. At least then I will know if its 30-15% gasoline. (I hope). Any thoughts appreciated, other option is going along the lines of a carputer that can handle the above, but that will probably be a big sell pitch for the wife lol. Does anyone have any recommendations for carputers, Cheers
  20. Forgot to add, car posted 182rwkw at present. Disappointed at this but im putting it down to the fact the ss kit wasnt fitted so the airbox was open and sucking from the hot engine bay during a dyno run and not cool fresh air, diff gear was 3.23, and also the car was still running on 91 octane from original motor, surprisingly it didn't ping, go the knock sensors. Will get another baseline done before the next lot of mods. Can only get better from now.
  21. Car is up and running, massive difference compared to the original xt donk, just fitted a big mouth ss induction kit that came off the wreck I bought. Definately notice the difference with the ss kit for those interested in these kits. Car is currently running around on good AFRs with custom 3" exhaust and no tune. Next step will be the v3 rapid kit, process west surge tank with 44, nizpro injectors, and custom tune. Hoping to hit 300rwkw all day, everyday. This has been the main goal of the project. Car is getting diff sorted next week to a LSD, still trying to work out what ratio to go with for the diff? Will post some picks shortly of current setup. Exhaust worked outs nicely, very little drone on start up then its gone. Very stealth. Thinking of swapping the 3.5" split dump from my phoon to the wagon and upgrading the phoon to a 4". Main concern at moment is overboost on the wagon motor once all the other gear is on, I really dont want this car to go over 300rwkw, possibly thinking of getting the overboost valve as a safety. Not keen on rebuiliding this motor. Open to any suggestions to hit the power I want but be safe with no overboost. Im in canberra, so car will be running on very cold dense winter nights, overboost heaven as well as extremely hot dry summers.
  22. Sorting out diff at moment and want some input/advice. Build thread here. Currently will be replacing the open XT 3.23 with a A XR8 LSD 4 pinion 3.45, looking to get the car modded up to 300rwkw max. Question is, would a 3.77 ratio be better compared to the 3.45 at this power level if I am never going to go higher than 300rwkw. I dont really care about highway cruising or economy, really just want the wagon to smash everything off the lights up to a 100kph, wife would love this. Car motor/gearbox is BA XR6T 4 Speed BTR. Would like to know soonish as the car is going in next week for the diff mod. My opionion is I think the 3.45 will do the trick, but other advice ive heard is saying go a 3.77 or even the 4.11. Thanks guys
  23. Nice, wanted to go with the ute xr8/xr6t rear but got the AU XR8 hemisphere for free so giving it a go. Exhaust has ended up being a custom job, 3 inch to the rear after the gutted cat from the turbo, funny thing they told me was the xr8 was too small exhaust for the turbo, looks like a good sales pitch on me, hook line and sinker, lol. Main concern was drone, this is the baby mobile, so it has to act and sound nice for the wife lol. Did you switch pumps in fuel system, still have the xr6t pump but was thinking of swapping it for the upgraded walbro pump from herrords, the one with the bigger swirl pot. My phoon is going in for 1000cc injectors, billet wheel, and .70 comp housing (running on e85), so was going to put the my old nizpro drilled injectors from the phoon into the wagon and probably get the rapid v3.0 for the wagon. Mainly aiming to get 280-300rwkw all day everyday in all conditions. What tailshaft are you using, is it the xr8 gear with diff? Starting to get a little worried about the aluminum tail shaft, even though ive been told it should be up to it.
  24. Hey sloxr6 What did you do for the exhaust? Did you use ute gear for the rear? Cheers
  25. Here are some of the pics at the beginning, we did all of this with trolley jacks and car stands, PITFA. Will post some more once its finished and running. Wagon engine before starting Donor car, we cut the top bar at front to pull motor and gearbox out as one WTF have I done!!! Wagon coming in for transplant New transplant Wiring harness fun Engine fun Gearbox fun Almost there
