  1. I wish my tax could hurry up and return to my bank account so I can order the rest of my stuff and use these inspiring words to complete my project. Im no car mechanic but a aircraft mechanic and I love coming home and tinkering with cars its a different world with same principles. Thanks everyone for your help.
  2. thanks mate the photos help heaps, how did you run the water lines? or just use standard im getting more and more keen to start it
  3. I want to learn how my engine operates and functions with a hands on approach as each part I work I learn a little bit more. I have done basically all of the work on my car including all suspension upgrades/work, bodywork, and I have serviced the car all by myself with no car mechanical background but with love of cars and the interest I have. I also know that my engine has been looked after, serviced on time and correctly. just to throw it away to get a overpriced ($4000) unknown condition 2nd motor just doesn't feel right to me, plus I love my Fairmont way to much and I couldn't just give it up for another run of the mill XR6T (no offence). Also I picked up most of the turbo parts very cheap and great condition and this car wont be a dyno queen or running 10's so I wont be to worried if the I cant push it with power. Im sorry if people don't feel the same way, but I have always been a car nut all my short life, and wanted a project that was challenging and rewarding cause they day I finish I know I will be proud and will have a bigger understanding mechanical wise.
  4. would I be able to just tap into the current heater pipes and connect a hole to each to supply water for turbo near same position as turbo ones as would save a lot of money and time? also what material are the pipes made from? thanks
  5. not much power at first untill lsd is fitted and I start get power hungry, its not lpg, I think you can tap the sump in situ just use alot of grease on the bit to stop fillings going into the sump I just got a quote through motor traders on the stuff I think I need to replace and get and it was just under $1000. that includes all nuts, studs, washers, bolts, turbo bracket and dump pipe bracket, heat shields, replacement waterlines/ heater hose and Boost Pressure Sensor for intercooler piping im pretty sure that's what ill need if anyone has 2nd hand or info where I could get stuff cheaper or generic parts would help great
  6. yeah im unsure too I know its under the inlet manifold in the block I think? I knew about drilling and tapping the sump. really excited about ripping my falcon apart and start the conversion. any pictures of oil/water lines routes or ideas where to go would be great.
  7. lsd will come later, lol ive got print outs of the engine exploded view with all the part numbers so now need to sit down and work out what I need to order and what I can use on current vehicle will try to scan pages if my scanner works but im still unsure how the water lines go and where does the turbo get the oil from and where do I connect up my oil feed line from the engine I have a earls aftermarket one pics would help thanks for your help everyone
  8. unsure about the loom, I have been looking for a 2bar map sensor havent found one yet. I was under the impression the injectors were the same as a na xr6? correct me if im wrong. whats your base car and are u just swapping engines or doing the same as I thanks
  9. can u take some photos of how u did it? so you ran water feed from t piece and where did the return go? I just got a print out of all the parts I need and part numbers could end up pricey if I use all factory ford stuff for the remained of the parts lol. thanks for the help so far
  10. anyone have detailed photos of where water lines and oil lines go to and from on the turbo engine so I can make up lines unsure right now thanks
  11. thanks mate ive done like a year's worth of research and now finally have a daily so I can work on the falcon in the shed lol. Im struggling to find the turbo water lines anywhere do ford still sell them? and what type of flasher do I need? will the car run after all this is done. also just need motivation to start this lol thanks
  12. anyone know where I can get the remaining parts want to start this
  13. Hey guys fairly new here im currently about to undertake a turbo conversion on my ba 2003 fairmont and was wondering if someone could give some advise and help would be appreciated. Im using mostly all standard xr6 stuff, close up photos of your engine and turbo would help dramatically. I have got so far: - GT3540 - Manifold - Dump pipe - Intercooler and all piping - boost solenoid - turbo oil feed(earls filter) and return(standard) and some gaskets, the manifold and turbo came with no studs or nuts so ill need to source them, what I think I still need and : - Water lines to and from and engine heater pipes + fittings - 2bar map sensor - studs and nuts for all parts including oil lines - xr6t fuel reg - boost pressure sensor I hope I havent missed anything, im in adelaide and would love to start ripping into this project as soon as I have all the parts thanks
  14. Im after a set thanks does it stiffen up the rear abit? anthony
  15. Does any one have some size and info on it so makes easy to explain what I want? thanks I thought it was a bit much
