  1. In my first step of escalation, I got a response. It says basically they will first need to inspect the turbo before a decision can be made despite having sent them the pictures within the hour I received the broken turbo.
  2. On the good side - I have bought a new core from MTQ. Phone call, picked it up, all in two hours compared to the 1 week + from the other company. MTQ have been nothing but professional. Was $1100. Disappointingly further, the original company is now not responding to my emails. I am pursuing the matter further obviously. I'm barely surprised by this and it is nothing out of the ordinary these days unfortunately. In fact, I always keep very good records and always take videos of unpacking goods. This was no exception and the video clearly shows the damage as I unpack. It does represent a significant detriment to my family life however. I don't think "naming and shaming" this company will do anything to further degrade this company's reputation on this forum (I.e. it has been done to death already). However, if you really want to know, PM me.

  4. Bought a turbo from what I thought was a reputable company. Now I realise this forum is actually full of complaints from this company. How embarrassing. Asked company for turbo cartridge number. Refused to give (idiot me ordered anyway). Told was "in stock and ready to go". Took one week to arrive. Arrived today with damage as shown. No apologies from company who sent it They refuse to pay for me to send it back to get a replacement. When I unpacked the turbo (there was considerable packing), as there was no damage to the packaging, and turbo damage appears to be due to localised high impact force, I am certain the turbo was damaged before it was packed and therefore the person who sent it knew it was damaged. 1) Where can I get reputable cartridge replacement? 2) What is the proper garrett core cartridge number?
  5. I dont want multiple maps - but I do want to retune as I go along and enjoy the modification journey. It seems with SCT I cant do that - I have to buy premade maps from some workshop (so the tune is obviously not perfect for my car and I cant adjust it - not worth it). So can I use HPT to standalone tune my car? (I.e not a workshop, just me and my wideband and the 1/4 mile)
  6. Thanks. Be good to put a list of whats needed - I think someone did right at the beginning, but after reading this thread Im still a little confused as to what you need to run the HPT. Some times it seems you still need the SCT?

  8. Thanks. Oil supply-oil pressure gauge assembly. This is how I removed it. Nasty bracket And this is the nasty bracket I could finally remove after the turbo was removed leaving place. Note Im using the bolt extractor as I had slightly rounded off the bolt. Came out like a breeze. Now just waiting on all new parts to arrive.
  9. Got the bracket out. Used a bolt extractor kit to remove stud closest to block and front of vehicle. Turbo then came off easily. Used the same bolt extractor kit (cheapy from bunnings for $30 - Trojan brand) to remove the bracket bolt closest to firewall - easy to remove. To install an intune motorsport braided oil line with remote filter - I just used a single 24mm long socket to remove standard oil lines from block. Took all of 10 minutes after having removed airbox. No need for spanners or holding things in place. No crimping occurred. Interestingly, although the filter unit within the oil supply fitting at the block did not appear blocked, it sure wasnt letting anything through. The filter has this plastic framework, that when not aligned blocks the holes to the banjo line. How do I post pic?

  11. Thanks Ralph, Very helpful pics. By these pics, you are removing the turbo only (section 1 of my original post) and have removed the wastegate and compressor cover and all the lines to the turbo. This would be great as it avoids removing the bracket initially. I'd like to give this a go, but I had tried to remove the wastegate - but cant even see the circlip on the actuator rod!
  12. Thanks for your response. What size drive did you use? 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 By the piece of pipe you used, do you mean you "extended" your leverage by putting a pipe on your ratchet? Im definitely not putting that bracket back on, if I ever get it off!
  13. Hi guys, After numerous videos and other forums, I still cant remove the turbo on my BA XR6 turbo (oil supply failure). There are two options: 1) Remove turbo from manifold. Problem: I cant get to the turbo manifold stud topmost and closest to engine. I did not remove any of the banjo fittings however. Are there any special tools I should use? I read on thread on here about a special ratchet spanner, but I couldnt find this. The wastegate bracket is clearly obstructive. 2) Remove turbo + manifold together Problem: Was able to remove dump pipe, all bolts/nuts from manifold, turbo exhaust studs (except as per section 1 above) but just cant get to the bracket that holds the manifold. This bracket sits under the manifold and has two bolts. The one that sits closest to the firewall is so tight it breaks my 3/8 sockets and anything larger wont fit. Any solutions in particular to approach and tools required?
