  1. Just changed to F1 series 2 after 18000km on Dunlops. SO Much quieter!; They feel really soft. Suspect will not last but grip levels way improved over dunlops,--which to be fair I had no complaints with. milage of tyre not my primary concern-rather the feel and driving experience and these tyres deliver.5 star rating. dunlops 4 star.(car FG F6). Of interest last car BF typhoon and same dunlops as original on FG. On the newer car the dulops are a much better tyre than on the BF, despite being as I understand it the same tyre, just goes to show the improvements of the FG ps. dual post (in quietest tyre)
  2. Just changed from OEM dunlop sport maxx to Goodyear Asymmetric F1 series 2(made in Germany) at 18000km. I am just amazed at the quietness compared to Dunlops. They feel MUCH softer on road surface. They are slightly more nervous at straight ahead position when driving, but turn, grip and brake much better. Not sure how they will last but that is not my main attribute when looking at a performance tire.( car FG F6)
  3. My experience. Aircon unit faulty and replaced; Outside temp sensor faulty and replaced drivers seat(non Leather)squeeky and not replaced all common FG faults. FPV(F6) 6 pot brembo control arms ALL faulty and mine replaced but a lot not!. look through the forums and you will find the common faults. Harry
  4. I have found a rattle to add to the list; I had a buzzy sound around what I thought was the central dash. It disappeared when I put my hand on the handbrake. Turns out to be the silver push button in the end of the handbrake handle vibrating on coarse chip roads. On FG models Harry
  5. has not set their status

  6. Well done! I had mine delivered today. F6 Ego, ZF,Premium Brakes,Dark Argents. It took from May 30th when order placed to be delivered here in NZ!

    F6 Vs Xr6t

Fair enough--does seem a bit long winded. All I was trying to say is that I have always doubted that FG would be much faster than BF simply because not much has changed in terms of specs. Also I am not surprised XR6t is now as fast as F6 despite less power because it weighs less. Harry

    F6 Vs Xr6t

Ok Guys/Girls Enough tests coming through now on pre production F6's and XR6T's to say that at least at present the F6 ---despite increased KW is no faster that XR6T. So what to make of this; As a declaration I Own a BF F6 but REALLY like the new FG F6 model --which I have driven. My feeling in the drive was everything smoother and the car MUCH better built but NOT much faster --SO lets look at the facts. A couple of magazines --both side Tasman have driven XR6T and found it to be fast; Same magazines have found F6 not much faster and this is not surprising. What makes a car fast?? Well Power, how it is applied(Torque) and above all Weight. Now is the FG --in all models more powerful -well yes, Does it have more Torgue?--well Marginal and above all does it WEIGH LESS,--well no!!! So what does this mean' When figures were first released I was and still am doubtful that the FG would be Much faster than BF2 simply because the figures have changed so little. Yes power is up BUT torgue has hardly moved and weight certainly hasn't changed significantly. Drive.Com as you know has recently shown F6/R8 comparison and of note times 0-100 5.1 and 0-400m 13.1------ Very slightly faster than BF2 and confirmed in at least 2 other magazine tests. Doesn't This seem like HSV R8 and SS Late model camira when first released. Times again on both side of Tasman very similar in tests; It would appear you buy an HSV or FPV of what ever flavor for the overall package NOT the outright performance. This of course includes brakes.supension, prestige etc. What Ford offers that Expensive Daewoo doesn't seem to do is an upgrade path. --Buy an XR6T and put in all upgrade packs and bingo--performance and some spare change. The other thing that people seem to have forgotten is that this model has 18 months to runout! What that means in AUSY I am not sure,- but here in NZ it means nearly 15-20% of list price depending on how late you time your order! Harry
  9. Hi Guys ; Photos here http://picasaweb.google.com/harry8737/F6 (copy and paste) Harry
  10. Hi Guys; Well just back from my drive of the F6! Yes there is a GT and an F6 at Team Hutchinson Ford-- Both pre production models(GT is P003 and F6 P004) I have taken photos and will post as soon as I upload to PC; The cars are here for a short time only before they go to Auckland and will move around the country. I was able to drive for 30 mins but had to take saleman with me as they are Ford NZ cars not the dealers; Anyway he was happy for me to do a pretty good test in the time available. I did not bother with the GT as I am not interested in the V8(and if I was it would be LS3!) The F6 is in Black with upgraded brakes and leather and the 19 rims off BF2 R spec. So what was it like. The first thing is everything inside is classier than BF. You sit lower and feel more integated; On startup the first thing I noticed is the new wheel is thinner and harder to the touch; The steering is a lot lighter and you can toodle along at any speed with just a couple of fingers to steer--unlike my BF where the wheel is thicker and more effort is required. I like the BF weight of steering better. Once under way -thru town the car is definitely more refined and a nicer place to drive from--by the way it was the Auto. I went down my usual route that I like to take my car when "going" for a drive, which is to the airport. I was able to so one standing full bore start to approx 100(+/- 20% -but I don't want to put that in writing!) It was wet so traction was a significant problem. The car did not feel any quicker than mine(which has only done 17000km) but I suspect was -it was just the smoothness of the throttle response that mad it feel less dramatic. The throttle response is definitely quicker and more progressive with almost NO noticable lag and the noise the engine makes is definitely different. --induction noise is louder and higher pitched. Driving wise -the way it is on the road I coud not detect much difference--it feels well planted but so does my BF. I went around a couple of roundabouts and accelerated(from 80kph) to passing speed as briskly as possible-- again more instant and more refined. The build quality is now at another level in terms of fit and finish--and by that I mean the weld work and gaps in panels which on all Ausy cars is not up to world standards-- but is now. So overall a very nice car--much more refined and "european" in feel. For those that dont like the "bat look" of the front end with they grey panels then Black is the colour to order as they grey blends nicely. The open air slot front centre with th intercooler sitting there looks like a recipe for disaster without a screen. A bird/rock/rabbit/possum is going to impact that very hard. We will see. So Overall--very impressed. pricing here in NZ $69000 with leather approx $2500 and Premium brakes approx$3500. The BIG problem that I see is that this model has approx 18month production run until runout and then the price like all runouts will drop significantly. Harry
  11. My understanding is that it may be the only one around but yes definitely an F6 not a T. I will fill in details after seeing it tomorrow and will take some pics. Harry
  12. Thanks Guys. Yes Senna been watching for a while and appreciate the welcome. will get more details. I have tried to post before but have only just sat down and fully figured it out! Be in touch Harry
  13. Hi Guys Well here in Christchurch NZ we now have an new F6 demo --just arrived and available for driving; Even the dealer was surprised,-- it just turned up on a transporter and they were not expecting it; All good news as he rang me and I have a test drive booked for tomorrow. I will compare as I have a 06 BF F6 fully optioned with the 19" wheels and bigger brakes. 'Also mine is still in standard tune so it will be a fair comparison. It looks like NZ has their cars ahead of Ausy as I can now buy the G6e turbo at the same dealer. Will check out what else available tomorrow and advise. Harry
