  5. My Ghia was doing this rubbish too... :banghead: (It's only done 75k)... Then it started making some other crazy sounds in first gear. Within a couple of days it starting to lock up when reversing and taking off in 1st/Drive. I took it to the guys at BTA Motorsports in Belmore NSW , and they rebuilt the box and fitted a Trans Cooler, Now it drives better than ever before. As it turned out, the Case hardening on the planetry gears was starting to come off, causing some major chips in the gear teeth. This is a BIG problem with the 4spd Auto's that don't have trans coolers, and especially if you tow anything or give the auto some of the old "Shift Action". I highly recommend that anyone with a 4spd auto invest a couple of hundred dollars a buy a Trans Cooler A.S.A.P... ... It is cheap insurance at the end of the day. I'm sure that this problem is not going to be the same for everyone, but it is worth getting someone....other than a dealership ...... to check it out. I had just had a service done at a dealer at 71k, mentioned the problem with engaging reverse delays and they said that it "Probably needs an oil change next service" and that "It doesn't need to be done just yet"!!!! WELL GUESS WHAT LOSERS you are wrong Again! :bash: :soapbox:
  6. Hanra... You are a legend! I am just about to fit some Alpine R-type 300w 5 x 7's and just thought I should check if anyone had listed the speaker polarity for front and rears.... And there it is! I am guessing that the rear will be similar with a black trace as the negative. Cant wait to hear the Sound difference. The Monty Ghia had the premo sound but I didn't rate the bass performance. So I stuck a Sub box with 2 x 10" Kickers and a old skool Class A Kenwood AMP. The bass now is great, how ever the stock speakers were letting the subs down. Now the install of a 4ch Fusion AMP and the 4 x Alpines should balance everything out. I will try and get some Photo action going after I have finished.
  7. Mike I have 2, 1 off a XT/Fairmont Std Bar and the other is from the XR bar that is currently on my car now. Both are 2 different shades of blue however, you can have either if you want... For FREE! Just because so many people have helped me on this site before and it's my way of giving something back. You would need to get it painted of course, but I can post it off next week if you want.... Just tell what bar it needs to suit.
  8. Hey does anyone know which of the wires connected to the rear speakers, is the positive or negative? I am putting in a high/low converter (speaker cables in and RCA cables out) in the boot to install an amp and two 10" subs. I already have the premium sound, but the 8" sub and amp are crap!
  9. My Monty Ghia has a light in the rear for the tunnel/foot wells. It is mounted under the rear vents. As all of my lights are white, it is white as well. Dont think the whole blue theme would work for me. Each to their own I guess.
  10. Thanks for the offer, but I would fit a complete turbo motor and 6 spd box if I was to go for it. I think that that would be a lot less hassle in the long run.
  11. Yes I saw your beast on the way to work, cheers.
  12. XF Falcon - No not me mate, I've only visited FF a couple of times and didn't really rate the site to be honest. Since BTA recommended this site, I haven't looked back either. mbjunior99- Cheers mate NOS XR - I am hoping that lowering Will help, because I'm already used to them & thinking that 20"s would have been better in some ways. Maybe its just that style of rims that makes them look like 18"s. It seems that Kings or Lovells are the best choice for an even, and low looking BA. seventytwo - Cheers mate & thanks for the hot tip, now I have to just work out how to make the image bigger on screen. I still have forum L plates on!!!
  13. Not sure. If I put the XR bar or an FPV bar on it, IMO it will start to look like something its not. The BF MkII has the same skirts and bar with the XR boot spoiler as well. They look good, but I think I'll leave it as is for a while and see whether I can be bothered changing the lights, grills and etc later on. Fibre Sports do a Typhoon lookalike for XT's that doesn't look too bad (concidering what is required to convert to XR front end. I think I would prefer to spend the money on putting a turbo on it before doing the XR or FPV front end!...Then it could be a wolf in sheeps clothing.
  14. Thought there may be someone out there who shares my affection for the Fairmont Ghia. I have had this Monty Ghia for a few months now. Its a daily commuter and I love being stuck in Sydney trafffic in it. Its got the Premium Sound, Sat Nav, Sunroof, K&N Air filter, I fitted the Piano black (from an LTD) ICC fascia_Shifter Cover & Cup holder to blackout the interior, XR skirts and rear bar, Force boot spoiler and 19" RJR Vogue Rims. Still have a few things to get done, ie. Lowering it an inch or so, Perf. exhaust. Nothing too hard core, its got to be suitable for the missers to drive too. Hope someone out there has some pictures of their Monty Ghia to share with the rest of this Wicked Forum and its Fans. Keep up the Good Work fordxr6turbo.com
