  2. Having thought about the AWD conversion I'm going to put it on hold. While its likely to be a great conversion the cost is a bit prohibitive, taking into account the amount of fabrication required to the sump, oil pickup, transmission R & R plus other associated costs. Maybe reconsider this at a later stage. Meanwhile I've ordered bush overhaul kit for the front and rear suspension for a freshen up. Also, since I've had the vehicle the diff has a whine (much like our Premier, Mark McGowan) which has become more noticeable since the diff bushes and control arms have been upgraded to Nolathane & Superpro parts. I've ordered a 3.07 ratio for the M86 diff, somewhere between the 2.73 in the sedan and the 3.23 it currently runs. 3.23 is renowned for diff whine. The 3.07 will give it a little more legs in gear. New wheels are on the way, got Simmons 19X9 FRC NCT's. Will try 275/45/19's which should fit. Did an oil change yesterday as I noticed the oil I used last time was as black as bitumen after only 4000kms. Used Valvoline 15W-40 engine armour. Never again, totally junk oil. Switched back to Penrite 15W-40 semi synthetic. No point running fully synthetic IMO as I'll be changing the oil every 5,000kms. At some time I'll get the timing chain and tensioner plus guides replaced with the Atomic gear. While the engine was rebuilt with new genuine chain, tensioner and guide I think it's peace of mind to replace it after nearly 20k of engine service. The chain does rattle sometime during startup, good enough sign to do the upgrade.

  3. Well I caved. Have ordered myself a eVGA 3080. Unsure when the stocks are going to get in so may be a while before I get my hands on it anyway. Got wayy too caught up in the livestream hype.. should be a nice upgrade to my 1070 and last until I build again

  5. A gpu should always be running at 100% unless it is CPU bottlenecked or frame rate limited. If one of these factors aren't in play, it indicates a potential issue. There is nothing on the market yet that will run every game at a minimum of 144Hz with max settings on 1440p, as there are a few outliers such as rdr2, Microsoft flight simulator, Crysis, BeamNG.drive etc. All that bizzo aside you're farken spot on that a 3080 will be a good upgrade. Hell a 1080ti would be a good upgrade At 1440p you shouldn't need to upgrade a 3080 for at least 5 years. By then 4k 144Hz will be affordable and there will be a whole new round of upgrades to discuss!

  9. Kinda makes sense. I mean how many other Garrett turbo powered cars are running around that never had this type of filter? As mentioned earlier, the oil filter does a good enough job in protecting the engine, why would it not be good enough to protect the turbo?

  10. I tried but the clip broke so I just drilled it out,now its even more hiflo lol

  11. yes. eliminate the risk involved with oil starvation due to the filter restricting oil flow to the turbo. as I have stated before there is literally thousands of turbos running with no oil filter pre turbo (apart from the regular oil filter) yet I have never heard of such systematic turbo failure due to oil starvation as I have in regards to ford xr6 turbo cars. I drilled mine out as soon as I got my car.no probs

  12. to everyone who thinks you need this troublesome filter think about this. you trust your oil filter to protect your main bearings, big end bearings, camshafts, cylinder bores, timing chain etc but you think its not good enough to protect your turbo. in that case you are putting your entire engine at massive risk of failure at any minute!!!!!!! the same debris that is trying to kill your turbo will surely wreak havoc on the rest of the engine internals. the fact is its just not needed and can be the cause of catastrophic turbo failure so why risk it.

  13. nobody but ford uses filters pre turbo, nobody loses turbos due to clogged filters but ford owners. wake up and get rid of your filters! I drilled mine out
