  1. Hey guys. Been such a long time since I've been on the forums. How is everyone? Last time I had any contact was ages ago!!! Smurfs still in action, well wasn't for 2 years as I was rebuilding bigger and better. Anyone in Sydney?

  2. WhoooooHoooo ! Finally finished a pretty extensive build for old mate @Panda Eyes in the form of a BA turbo rebirthing lol and I’m excited to see it done and hopefully done well for a while to come…. Looooooooong Story shorten down is Scotty wanted to bring the old girl out of hibernation and spend a few coins on making her better than ever and obviously time and technology has moved forward so it was good to drag the beast into the current area of mods/Tuning. A long time ago she had around 360rwkw on a E85/98 mix using some Deka 60’s, Bosch 044 surge tank, big J

  4. Been crazy busy lately but some projects aren’t finished yet, some had failures and some are going bigger and badder than ever before. That said Alex @boakesautomarine has decided that the previous best of 700rwkw wasn’t enough and wanted to up the limits more and why not hey. From last time we’ve swopped out the Atomic stage 2 cams ( almost identical to FG grind anyways ) to the highly regarded Kelford 218B Cams which has a lift into the 280’s which normally factory VCT would struggle with and require VCT lockouts/Locked cam sprockets but the Haltech P&P has a much stronger outp

Had Mark back in and this time it was to upgrade his single tune HPtuners protocol to the latest PCMtech MFT so he can utilise the flexibility of having multiple boost level maps and easy switching between 98 octane fuel and E85 all via the Cruise control switching mechanism on the steering wheel. Unfortunately the VCM NGauge device is now redundant and unavailable to buy any more so despite the easy use of a physical gauge there was no problems bringing this latest technology to a more mature crowd Anyways same mods that comes in my stage 4 package a delivered in the u

  6. Did some tuning today. Apparently gapping the plugs did the trick cos straight away it ran up 605awkw with no tune changes. I frigged around with fuel and boost and this and that, and managed 685awkw at 39.5psi. I brought it in gently as the trans wasn't happy to take much more than 30psi on the hit. There was some trans truncation going on at that power level on the road, so I've turned it back down to about 640awkw for now.

  7. Well Results are in and what a great night out at Tailem Bend “The Bend” for Roll racing. Typical event of Drag style racing that incorporates a “Roll” start instead of the typical Christmas tree Launch of Drag racing. Side by side competitors take off together in a lead up area with the chance to get upto 40kmh ( or there a bouts ) and cross the start line ( together is the idea but some jump ahead ) which initiates the WOT aspect and race flat out together until crossing the finish line ( roughly a 1/4 mile ) This style event brings out all sorts of vehicles from Tuff street to f

Been flat chat lately but still loving every part of what I get to do Big one for me is when a car comes in that’s been to other workshops and they’ve delivered back a vehicle that they think is right but unfortunately the end user is far from impressed and seeks out a resolution which ultimately leads them to me ( Thanks to @Typhoon for the Refferal to his mate Matty ). This is where I get to use my experience and knowledge and turn something not great into something special and yeh it gives me warm fuzzies making a car behave exceptionally well especially with some bigger

  9. So yerp pulled the 6r80 down today. Nothing looks too rooted in it, not that I'm a seasoned trans builder or anything. All of the steels are in good condition and all of the shafts/gears etc look and feel alright too. I'll get to measuring later in the week to confirm stuff. The car that the trans came out of had a torque converter failure and had put some metal into the trans which is why I only paid $50 for it. I pulled the trans pump apart to have a look, as that will be where the metal starts it's journey into the trans. Sure enough the small inner gear has some damage and the

I disabled it in the vid block, changed it in the tune as well and zeroed out the ETC cut. Still didn't work but oh well. Also don't have the boost control dialled in so it's a bit wavy. Today was a fuel/sd map tuning day

Had Micko back in with his beautiful BA XR6 Turbo and this time it was to swop out his SS Xforce exhaust for one of the Venom full SS system as he didn’t like the sound and clearance issues around the Xforce system Obviously I’m a big fan of the Venom systems and was my pleasure to remove and install the beautiful piece of kit that it is, coupled it up with a major service and some other incidentals and then onto the Dyno to give her a retune on 98 Fuel. Finished up at a picture perfect 330rwkw @ 16 psi and that’s as far as I’m willing to go on the old skinny Rod BA bottom end

Had Adam come back after a long time in between mods and for a good reason it seems, Came in to go from a stage 2 package and leapfrog to a stage 4 + coilovers package which I rate at 450-500rwkw and suited to be the upper limit of what I comfortably suggest the stock FG bottom end will do repeatedly as we all know that it “Can” do silly numbers but for a very short period of time which isn’t recommended obviously 😂 Anywhoo in went this list of mods Garrett GTX G2 3582, my spec 1.06 rear housing with 39mm port & flapper, Garrett 11.8 psi actuator & full SS gas

  14. For context, This forum is not only about cars for some of us. Some members have had relationships for over a decade now and are quite good friends. There have been threads about babies and family, homes being built, what beers people drink, what people are cooking for dinner... and so on. One of the joys about it is unlike social media, you can pick and choose what you want to see and, myself personally, as a relatively new builder embarking on my largest project to date, I like to soundboard off of some of the guys who’ve been there done that and it helps with add

  15. Got to the dyno today and it went pretty much as I expected. The exhaust showed to be a huge restriction but we all knew that anyway. The first run right off the bat showed 367awkw on 16psi and after a bit of fiddling it went 427awkw at 21psi. The wgdc was at 85% and briefly flicked to 100% a couple of times so didn't bother pushing it further. So yerp, zorst is needed and possibly a stiffer actuator but overall I'm pretty happy for now. Haha it's quite quick at 21psi but I reckon it'll get turned down until I do the zorst. Happy days

  16. Hi gents. Just got home from Aaron's as I live in country SA and it's a 220km drive home. First up the F6 averaged 10L/100km after resetting the trip when I left Aaron's place. Can't complain about that at all considering the power output! Best I saw when it was stock on 98 on a similar trip was 9.1L/100km. This car has been a long road and I've been stuffed around by so many tuners it's not funny. I'm an educated guy with a finely tuned set of bullsh*t detectors and the amount of times they hit warp speed talking to certain performance shops in Adelaide boggles my mind. I'm not goi

And the rocker cover has been sent for chrome.. That's about it. I had a few spare parts floating around, so I decided to put them to use. I used a FG series one block. It sonic tested the best that I have found - 0.125" was the thinnest section in any bore. The others were very meaty. We offset bored that cylinder , to help keep it as thick as possible. The block has also been surfaced

  20. A big thankyou to my mate Aaron at JD Tuning for all the help with my car. I can not say enough about the fantastic service. Not only has he walked me through every step with advice and buying parts, he has posted me his own tools, picked the car up twice from the transport company and now is storing the car free of charge until I can get there after Christmas. His work is outstanding and his passion and knowledge for cars is unrivalled. The drivers window switch broke only 2 days before it left the NT and I could not get parts, he actually took the switch from his own car to use while tuning

I decided to change the exhaust housing to a 1.15 while I was at it. I also fitted the new billet thermostat housing and removed the header tank. It really opened up a lot of space... Only a fuel line leak to fix and she'll be ready to hit the dyno again...

  26. Had old mate Dion @Mrpunk back in for some service work and a chance to assess the ZF for one last “hurrah” with everything thrown at the ZF tune to keep it going… Obviously that meant it was time to throw her on the Hubs for a “Little” more boost lol. Managed to tweak more overall power out of the combination but as the boost lifted the transmission was just not passing it all on and despite seeing a peak of over 474rwkw at one point she just wasn’t happy so I had to bring it back to a place where it’ll hang on for a while “IF” driven somewhat normal lol 😂 98 Low boost 383rwkw

This vehicle is fitted with a KPM 460 Drop in module and reg kit and on E85 unfortunately the workshop that fitted it didn’t get told or optioned to upgrade the wiring kit when purchasing the module and melted the module plug top. So under warranty KPM replaced the module and still suggested it was ok to use without a wiring kit.... Anyway when I got her into the thick of tuning it was obv

  33. I got the head off today and there's not a lot to say really. The head and valves are still in the same condition as they were when I first assembled it. The block has minimal wear and there are just a couple of little scratches where the porcelain from the plugs got stuck, when the plugs broke. They barely pick up with the finger nail and are so small that they won't affect anything. So yerp there we go. I'll slap it back together and farken send it.

Had @david g6eturbo back in for the next level of mods despite only just finishing up his 3rd round with me less than a few months ago. Can’t argue with the man as it was time to take the next step..... The E85 step ! 39. Finally dropped the exhaust on the dyno today. With no tune changes it went from 350 to 385awkw and picked up nearly 3 seconds of spool time. That is probably more to do with having more wg preload, rather than the lack of back pressure. Also the wgdc dropped from 100% to 75%. I added a couple of pounds in the tune from 4500rpm onward for a total of about 22psi and it went 409awkw on 98 octane...from Ampol... I think it made 965nm torque which you can see in the graph below. I deliberately brought the boost in "slower" (in the tune) to take care of the driveline and thi

I've set up boost by gear and flatshifting on my manual BF with ~380rwkw. I can pin the throttle from 1st to 4th without lifting and basically no wheel spin. Press of a button and I get full boost in all gears to do skids all day if I want.
