  2. Oh wow that’s a bit average Puffy but on the flip side what would a “0” km TT go for these days ..... alot more than what it’s going to cost you to pull it out ( probably get away with a boar hone only and new std pistons and rings, gasket set, big end bearings ) put it back in with a fresh bill of health and odds n sods along the way if that same bus was on the yard with a current receipt for such works anyone would pay upwards of 15k for that piece of mind. You've probably just got the deal of the year buddy especially if they’ve thrown you back 1.5-2k for the trouble !!!

  3. Well I'm keeping the car and they are giving me some cash to fix it myself. At least I know it'll be done the way I want it plus I can use a few bit's I've collected along the way. Just one of those things ay. Meh.

  4. Ok plum lovers I’m looking to upgrade the Flogadoor soon and I thought I’d get in early with research and finding out what’s what in the euro scene and in regards to reliability and quality as there’s loads of information out there but the best information is first had from previous or current ownership. Like most of us we have more than one car and probably have had a variety of platforms over our time and without a good Aussie built vehicle at hand the euro market is very popular and being such the wife and I bought a new Prado MY18 nearly 12 months ago now and it’s brilliant but now the HSV had had it’s soon to be marching orders from my tax and financial adviser I’m keen to get into something nicer again looking at Audi RS3 Mercedes CL 250-300’s and now mainly BMW 530-540I and or maybe the M3-M5 ( maybe ) tell me your thoughts if anyone has anything interesting to say about each or any as it’s extremely biased on either of the forums related to said vehicles this looks to be the winner in my mind so far

  5. Could be Rab. I'll be wanting to fit this Kayhan unit before any serious driving though! Still chasing a MK2 screen surround in shadow grey...

  9. Keef's shared rooms/cabins/apartments with me on many a cruise and I've never felt uncomfortable - he's definitely not omoh. The bloke he picked up at the pub was as ghey as they come though

  10. Yeah jet apart from the compression issue there isn't a heap wrong with it and you're right about the end result. While it is a bit more effort on my part it will be a rebuilt and fully serviced vehicle which is hard to come by. They have given me enough for the entire rebuild including fluids so it's not all bad. They still get paid, I do some work and get a great car for the price. That's life and the cup is half full on this one. Plus the missus gimme the green light for a couple of bits so it won't break in the future. Pity it's so farken hot lol.

  12. not at all. I had it with the stock clutch for a while and now with the new clutch, still feels the same. They did have to use a die grinder to clean it up a bit on the inside of the spring so it would sit flush and it worked. lol.

  15. Yes and no. I always did manual labour before I looked after the kids so I was used to working long, hard and hot hours. Two or three long days won't kill me but I'll be glad when it's done. I've got a extremely talented mechanic mate (who also works at a machine shop) with a workshop and hoist etc at his house, so if I'm in need of a hand I can always ask. I've got all the tools (minus machine shop stuff) here at my house for engine building as well. Haha plus side is that there is heaps more ground clearance which means my fat arse can fit under the vehicle.

  17. Much more successful day on the tools today. Got my trans cooler and fan in. Just need to run the hoses, do the trans oil and finish the wiring. Is mega hot so I'm just doing a bit each day. Taking plenty of pics so I can write up what I've done. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of detailed info on doing this job and as these cars get older there'll be more DIY I imagine. Also de-engined a mate's Hilux yesterday, so putting the stupidity of the other day behind me gradually!

  18. From what I've calculated today it should be less than 5 years, which I'm happy with considering I went with a little more premium inverter and panels. Inverter has a 12 year warranty so will be well within warranty period before it's all paid back It's just nice knowing though that I can be home on the weekend, running the aircon all day and night and not be worried I'll get a massive power bill now.

  19. Was putting the car up on stands and it swung very slightly as I was jacking for the third stand. (Pivoted on the one wheel that was on the ground and I think I had slightly lifted it off one of the other stands). I was well out of the way as always and the car didn't drop or anything, but the corner of the front bumper tagged the roller door guide. Bar will need a spray now. I guess when you DIY, the thousands you save offset any occasional stuff ups. Still pretty pissed at myself though.
