  3. I watch all the porn...all of it... I pay between $300 and $420 per month. Last December the daily average was 39kWh and July was 35kWh. The lower months are 25kWh, and obviously they gradually change from month to month. This will only increase as the kids get older. With the new roof I'm getting installed, I'm also getting 50mm of insulation under the iron so that should help out a bit.

  4. But you'd have to run proper calculations on how much you're spending on the home automation gear (blinds motors aren't cheap! I know, I bought 3 of them for my living room) to work out the savings you'd get on your power bills. Also, 10kWh battery wouldn't last me all night - in summer my ducted AC will chew through 3-4kW and hour...so that running alone when I get home from work would wipe out the battery within 3 hours. Add to that lights, tv, hifi etc...a single 10kWh battery isn't enough.

  7. Here is a pic of the parts used to plumb it back on a BF turbo. While the hose length etc may be different the principle is the same. The smaller fitting on the intake is for the pcv hose.

  8. So we get this email this morning about dress code, so I emailed HR back because I've seen staff get caught out before in the last place I worked, when Manglement decided they were customer facing because they dealt with staff. The wording in the email is: For example, on days when you’re working in the office and have no fixed meetings with stakeholders you might choose to wear casual dress. Whereas when you’re seeing clients/external stakeholders, you might think either business dress or a Company name polo is more appropriate. I emailed back with: Hello Dan, Technically IT staff’s clients are the staff, so would it therefore mean we still stick to business dress and the work polo shirts? That was two hours ago and I know he's read the email - the Server logs show it - and I bet he's going to come back with "Ask your Manager" because no-one's thought this through. I'm on a roll with showing how little people plan in this place lately, I put one Mangler's nose out of joint a few weeks back when I stated that 95% of the work is done by the staff and the Mangler's get paid the extra to make the few hard decisions and sign off some paperwork. I then followed up with, "Because I would really like to see how you go on the phones with customers." Crickets after that comment, it was in front of staff too and no-one from HR has had a go at me because that would get back to the staff so fast the negative response would give the entire Manglement team whiplash. People learn pretty quickly not to annoy David from IT in this place.

  9. I'm quite intrigued to see my next bill. Rough calcs indicate it should be less than $50, even factoring supply charges. Considering this time last year my bills were $350-450 for 2months, I can live with that. Agree about batteries, though. Not even remotely financially viable yet due to the payback period coinciding with their expiry. I love the idea of being able to be somewhat off-grid, but from a pure cost/benefit stand point it's not worth it.

  10. One of the installers that did my place put the same system on his dad's house. He drives for a limo service so he is home during the day for about half of the week His bill went from $600 a quarter to $150! We only get 9 cents per unit back into the grid, and pay 27 cents for their unit As far as battery's are concerned, they are not financially viable yet By the time you have paid off half of their worth, you need new ones And they are anything but environmentally friendly, if that's your thing

  13. Dollar for dollar, JE are probable the best value pistons for a stout Barra. I've built three engines using them (Sold two short engines). They're extremely high quality alloy that have minimal expansion. Therefore you can tighten up the clearances, which results in a very quiet engine. Btw, I agree with 99% of what Jet stated...

  15. Nah, I mean the friend being there hasn't helped...but our communication styles/habits and love languages are so incredibly different I just don't really feel like I'm in a romantic relationship...and there's like zero passion now. Makes me feel quite lonely, which isn't a great feeling to have in a relationship.
