  1. While some of you guys were ripping it up at Racewars, I was doing pretty well at the Westernationals in Group 2 - Competition Bike. We top qualiified, won the round and the gold Christmas Tree (the holy grail of aussie drag racing) and reset the national record for DD/CBI to 8.339. I also ran 0.2mph off the national record terminal speed at 164.8mph. I've now got the WA Comp Bike track championship in the bag with one more round to go and at the end of the month we go to Adelaide and try to tie up the National Chmpionship. (both championships are a bit weak this season, but I'll take it) Next season's goal is to run a 7 and crack 170 mph, then we'll be proper fast!

  2. There's no sensible money spending on these car's. If ya wanna make them fun, make a nice neat pile of cash and light it up. Burn baby burn........

  3. If the Torque app fails, enter Racewars and check your trap speed over 800m, I found mine dropped from 229 to 209km/h after a chair stopper I used to block the BoV pipes (after removing BOV) popped off during a run. But Torque is much more practical

  5. A lad posted a picture of his bike on a Ducati forum I frequent which inspired me to polish the stainless on my exhausts. I only had time to do one muffler, but want to do the other side (obviously) and do the headers. today was really a test to see how far I could get with limited time.(1 and a half hours) I have bought a carbon hugger from the US, and a carbon front guard from the UK, so I wanted to bling up some of the other components in preparation for their arrival.

  9. I'm guessing the noise I hear is the oiled ball bearings rolling. It's been like it from the early days and I have pretty much stock piping, only cold side is changed.

  10. Yep, I've always been able to hear mine. A soft metal sort of noise, hard to explain.

  11. How much noise do you think a turbo should be making as it spins down as soon as your turn the car off? audible with the bonnet open not closed?

  12. One way you can tell if you have a boost leak, is if the car is lacking power. That was the first thing I noticed when the revs hit 2500rpm, there was no power. I was driving an N/A. The other thing I have is an obdII port dongle which I have the android app called Torque, connected to it as a digital gauge. The boost was not showing up and I knew that I had a boost leak.

  13. If I chose to mod this car and add say 50-70 more rwkW, then the gearbox would probably die haha

  14. I think I'd rather have your car atm cos there ain't no cheap way of getting a gearbox or driveline that won't break.

  18. To give you an idea. Here's an 8.40 I ran in January in the comp bike final. 9psi on the two step, 11psi in first and ramping to 14.5 in 2nd onwards. Now its ramping to 17.

  19. You might have a boost leak... by the sound of it. Check all pipes from the outlet of the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the throttle body to make sure they're all correctly connected.

  21. Qantas have a deal on that moment $208 one-way Melbourne to Christchurch that finishes on 18 Mar. For travel 7 Oct - 21 Nov. I'm thinking of visiting from 7 Oct to 15 Oct (take in 2 weekends to maximise time). Would be great to do an over-night cruise with some of the locals. I'll be in a hire car. Route thinking about Christchurch-Arthurs Pass-Hokitika-Buller Gorge-back to Fox Glacier/Franz Josef Gacier-Wanaka-Queenstown-Omarama-Timaru-Christchurch. Roads look good through there. I hear Sep-Nov is whitebait season and Hokitika is your green jade carving capital. Also avoids the busy touristy Dec-Jan period. Accomodation should be more reasonably priced in Oct as well. Would there be any interest in organising an overnight cruise for you New Zealunder folks?

  26. It's probably quite obvious how much I love my gadgets, beer and BBQ etc I've been searching for a way to add that "Guiness" touch to my stouts and ales without having to resort to a dedicated keg, tap, line and nitro bottle. (like they serve in pubs or the Guiness & Kilkenny cans etc you get with the widgets) New gadget should arrive next week - just in time to tap an Irish stout I've got conditioning.
