  4. So, I got tuned the other week. It was quite interesting. On pump 98 at 16psi it made 384kw, which is about right from the last tune I had done, so that's a good starting point. then in went some E85, went up 40kw... more boost, more kw's... more boost more kw's... I was receiving a flurry of text messages letting me know what figures I've pushed which was great. Then I got the news I was looking for.. 496.2kw / 665.5hp HAPPY DAYS!!! stoked, a mere 3.8kw away from the 500 ( which I had not aimed for ) the graph looked great, the boost wasnt too high, the car was responding well and I was happy to call it a day, successful as it was. ... Then I got to thinking... 3.8kw... surely it can be found... so I spoke to Rob and asked if he had any magic left to drop me at the next nearest 100kw...... Tense 1/2hr wait and I get the message, minimalist at best.. just the following "505rwkw" 505kw / 1216.8Nm (677hp & 897lbft) with a little under 24Psi on United E85. Happier than a pig in mud. It's still very linear, got a fierce intake noise and pulls harder than a teenager. and with that in mind, this is where the mods will stop on this one. After racewars, it'll go back onto 98 and get a big tune done, then I'm going to leave it alone. I'm more than happy with the power it makes, I might just add some wheels to set it apart and that's it. there are some things I would do differently, given my time again... I'd buy an auto to start with, just because clutches are expensive and I dont flick through the cogs as fast as the trickery inside the FG auto boxes. I'd listen to a few more people early on ( the right ones though ) .. I'd get the process west intake elbow.. just because its nicer than the cast alloy thing I hastily bought and I'd probably try to be a bit more involved with the other bits I did not do (because all good technicians love the customer watching on) and I'd go straight to a big fuel system, instead of taking a half way step ( read newbies: avoid taking half way steps, they will cost you more in the long run 99% of the time) One thing, that I can definitely say I would not change would be where and who I took the car to for the extras and tuning. You're probably all sick of me mentioning how impressed I am with the crew at Monsta Torque, but I'm going to go again here and say that the car would not be this good, without their attention. Rob, Kate and Darren are in a league of their own I believe. As busy as they were, they were always open to chatting about the setups and where to go next or what to expect. For the size of their shop and work force they have really put some formidable cars out the door in the time I have been doing mine. They are prepared to go that little bit further to make sure you're happy and the random texts or calls out of the blue, to see how it's all going are great. My experience has been nothing but positive from the get go and for the new guys and gals out there who are thinking of modding their car and don't know where to go in perth, My advice is plastered all the way through this mods thread. Cheers.

  5. Haha panda jnr and his cousin had an Easter egg hunt. They loved it. His cousin is recovering from a pretty long stint in hospital (same age as mini panda) and it's great to see the little fella really caring about his cousin.

  6. ^^^ yep. Loyalty only goes so far. If they can't get it right - move on. Worse thing is the expense of a start from scratch retune but...sometimes it's just unavoidable.

  7. So am I..not gunna make it to being a sad decrepit old cnut in and out of hospital on a regular basis just to suspend the inevitable sitting around in a retirement home with all the other dribblers...or win tatts and retire now. ...and before anyone mentions it I'm not decrepit yet.

  9. Pumps could very well be the same. I thought I read something about them being different. But highly unlikely. Don't be too fooled by the airbox, it's sitting high in the bay, basically on top of the rad support. Also, another great reason to stick with a stock battery- you can buy a 520cca battery as a stock replacement but the relocation kit (yeah a superior battery by design anyway) only has about 440cca or something.

  12. Yeah going to be one of those things that fights you all the way. Now I've got the coolant drain tap in the rad leaking. I'm hoping it's just the tap & I'm not swapping a rad out. Also realised I've ordered the wrong piping kit as I need the cool side & I got the hot side. Anyway, on to more constructive things. The stock pressure transducer in the stock cooler, does anyone know where that needs to be mounted in a PW setup? On to today's more expected dramas, the muffler won't fit as the PS pump is in the way. I suspect the Fg's have a slightly different turbo placement and/or a different ps pump. Iirc they do run a different pump I may have to get a custom piece of pipe bent up and ditch the muffler idea. Not a big deal, I think the length of the run will keep it quiet enough anyway. The pipe that crosses over the plenum might be a bit too high too (keeping in mind the below pic shows the back of the plenum about 35mm or more too high. Failing that I'll maybe use a heat gun to re mold it or have a piece of pipe crushed to get over it? Again I'll figure something out. Other than this still waiting to get a right angle drill to do the final stud and bolt it down. Need a new booster hose & replumb all the bag lines which have changed slightly Anyway here's the obligatory cooler comparison shot for the night

  13. Who says warranty means nothing Gunna? There are plenty of reputable companies that will stand by their products - performance or otherwise. I think the BTR option is a smart one for what you're doing. You probably could have gone down an easier path with the engine but hope you'll get there in the end. Personally, I would have bought a cheap donor and got it built or use your existing engine and done the same but that's my opinion.

  17. Cheers GHP. I'll let you know @barnz - completely agree with the fact this is unorthodox but actually, my assumption from the get go has been with different joiners & a few small nicks or cuts on some of the bits I can make everything fit & functional. The bigger issue, which I saw I was always going to have is all the stuff I've never done before which at this point is pretty much everything. The other thing that will bug me is time, I need to get the xcal fixed or replaced, and run around getting bits and now get some rims & tyres sorted out pronto plus some bushes I think. Work is getting more feral by the day, just a step off people screaming at each other *sigh* what evs Everything else to me is semantics really, I think if your silly enough to dream it up you can do it. Thinking about it though, doing it this was also removes the need to traverse the bov return line and the crank vent back over the front of the engine. But yep so I agree it's more complicated than a whole drop in setup, and I appreciate the support

  18. awesome job mate! glad we finally got the update 505rwkw bloody hell.. when boost kicks in you must feel like a passenger. I'm the same as you, happy as a pig in sh*t with the service and constant care.. I even get txts every now and then asking me how my cars going. Wouldn't take it anywhere else for services/upkeep and only recommend them as the place to go this side of the country.

  21. What Wilko said...........music copyright will cause the error on most mobile devices using tapafark or motorculture. You can get 'free' music from the youtube music library to add to videos and this will fix the prob in the future. I checked it out on the comp yesterday and as you lot were going around a bend I noticed that Rabs car didn't have the body roll like the rest of you...........coilovers you say Off topic a bit - sorry Gunna get my car fixed up in a cupla weeks and then gunna come do a Calder run so I'll meet you there Rab

  26. Gunna's battery relocation is one of the nicest ive seen on a ute but would probably be a chit on a style side. As it would be inaccessible. Honestly I think your causing yourself a world of hurt wanting to go factory airbox location with the nizzy plenum and an fg crossover? Not having a stab or anything mate but that's not going to look stock b series anyway lol. Done tastefully with black piping ect the battery relo/turbo side looks very stock to the untrained eye. Infact its how it should have been from the factory, less complicated, and logical. But good on you for setting a goal and striving to achieve it, no matter how difficult.

  30. Haha. Now you guys are getting confused. He has a GTX3576. With the stock exhaust housing. PAH, this means you have the stock size exhaust housing. Not the smaller 0.82 exhaust housing suggested earlier. :-)

Jnr and family are all about to go for a stroll down the road into town, the blessing of the fleet is on, and there is a massive festival and street parade happening. Time to throw Jnr up onto my shoulders and wave at the parade lol

  41. That's awesome Gary Can I get you to follow me for a couple of weeks with a camera and video and add a soundtrack to my life? Damn that F6 sounds tuff - you don't actually get to hear it that much when you're a couple of 100 meters behind trying to catch up as it accelerates off towards the horizon. I think you may have bitten off a lot of work for yourself moving forward. For the Snowy cruise I'm tipping there'll be about 5 more Go-Pro's and everyone will have a drone with footage for you to work through
