  2. Well I promised something COOL and here it is! A set of Quad Weber 48 IDA Carburettors for my XA Hardtop. It's always been one of my dreams to run a setup like this ever since I started playing with cars! Now Webers are COOL most of the time but this setup is even COOLER!!! UBER COOOOOOOOL!!! I've been looking for a setup for my Cleveland for quite some time. But what you see before you is a piece of history. This is an early 70s weber manifold to suit the famous BOSS 302. The BOSS 302 was a hybrid engine using a Windsor block and Cleveland BIG PORT 4V heads. These manifolds are extremely rare in America let alone in Australia. The Webers are also early 70s models Made in Italy and are themselves quite rare. The manifold is a SHELBY BUDDY BAR casting and there weren't many made. When I saw this setup I just had to have it. I will be building an engine around this manifold. There are many advantages of using a Windsor block , they are about 30-40kgs lighter than a Cleveland and are also significantly cheaper to build as well as a greater selection of aftermarket parts. I haven't settled on a bore and stroke combo yet but the range is between 302-370 cubic inches. I've always been a fan of the BOSS 302 because of Allan Moffat's famous red Mustang. Allan Moffat's Mustang was a BOSS 302 and ran this exact same manifold and Weber setup. This car was up against Aluminium Big Block Camero's and other exotic race cars but managed to win 101 races from 151 starts. The BOSS 302 also won the American Trans Am championship. Too say I'm stoked to get my hands on these is an understatement. I bought them from an old guy who bought these brand new in the early 70s and he ran them in a Bolwell Nagari which he raced and did Targa Tasmania with. He reckons they'd be lucky to have 4000kms on them. TOTALLY STOKED [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

  6. Well my boy gave a good account of himself today in the District swimming carnival but placed just outside of the top 2 in 3 of his races (top 2 go to Regionals) Except the relay which he and his mates absolutely smashed the opposition! So off too the Regionals in a couple of weeks. These guys have been mates for years but all went to different Primary schools. They've played Rugby league, AFL and done nippers together. Now their all in the same High school, I think they will be formidable opponents at what ever they turn their hand too! Another proud day.......life doesn't get much better [emoji2]

  7. there IS NO SET RULE/PERCENTAGE/ANSWER!. The only way to be sure (and with this method the percentage could change depending on how tight you reinstall all of the bolts...) is to take the engine out, measure it's flywheel kW with an engine dyno, then reinstall the engine and measure the kW at the wheels with a chassis dyno (with the same calibration parameters as the engine dyno) and then manually calculate a precentage between the two figures. Any other answer is just either a complete guess or an educated guess going by past results with similar setups.

  8. Hi all Just a friendly warning about spamming threads with off topic banalities. You all know who you are. Please keep all the pee pee , *beep* and all other related perversions in the correct chat threads/ DM lounge so the rest of the board who are just here for car related material don't have to keep scrolling through non subject related material. Kids also visit the site to read about parents cars etc Thanks for your assistance in this matter. Failure to do so may result in posts being deleted without notice and warnings handed out Cheers Buf

  19. Yeah the T6 did the job with ease! I left a 04:30 and arrived at 18:30. All on the fuel card, filled up once each way at Hay. BenDocCo I am still waiting to hear if I am getting any.... I feel my chances are slim this year. Last year I was in the Corp box sipping a few with the Valvoline chicas! Mmmmm

  20. Sounds like a loose/cracked flex plate to me. Easy (and cheap) fix it if is or potentially a driveline issue. I'd sugges dropping the driveline off the box and repeating the test before leaping into pulling the trans out A little info attached for you 307-01 Automatic Transmission Transaxle.pdf 307-05 Automatic Transmission Transaxle External Controls.pdf

  21. Nah no need mate. The later generation chargers are very safe in the way they operate. Did the lipo's not have a temp prob to monitor them? 6amps is enough to maintain if it's in good condition but won't save a battery that's been abused (if flattened and only partially recharged multiple times) You need to step up to a 10 to 15 amp charger for that sort of work and unless you're using it across multiple vehicles it's not cost effective.

  25. Its actually the petroleum colour. Wasn't optimistic about the boot swap, never know if you don't ask though. Have a DJR lip lined up to get fitted later this week anyway, ideally would prefer something like the G6ET lip but too much stuffing around with spoiler holes and brake light.

  32. From: http://www.evolutionm.net/forums/evo-tires-wheels-brakes-suspension-sponsored-tire-rack/664752-correct-brembo-caliper-paint.html In my searches, I have found a factory red that is an exact match. However the vehicle was not available in the US. You may be able to find a paint shop to mix it up for you. It's called Tiziano red by Fiat. the paint code is 199 (or 199a, I can't remember) I am not a fan of "caliper paint" because it's extremely thick, and never looks good. What you need to do, is do a base coat/then clear coat with a good 2K clear. This is the same thing done with auto bodies. a) powder coat them in a close color. Not as OEM, but a stronger coating than OEM (IF DONE RIGHT) or: b) Prime them with a 2K epoxy primer. Color shoot them with a base coat (BTW, I looked up the paint code. You can pull it off of a 2000 Fiat Doblo paint code 199A) After the base coat has fully flashed, paint the brembo with a white base coat (Toyota 040 Super White II is the closest) with a stencil. Then paint the whole thing with a good quality HARD 2K clear coat. (Dupont Imron Elite is a quality solvant resistant clear coat) I used Red VHT high temp and VHT enamel clear coat. They came out pretty damn close to stock. It took about 5-6 hours total from cleaning to drying to multiple coats of each. Brembo decals you can get on ebay. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rebuild Kits: http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=82_1169_1172 Dust Boots: http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=82_1169_1170 Piston Seals: http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=82_1169_1171

I have staggered speedy cheetah's on my car, 19x8.5 245's and old style cheetah 19x9.5 275s on the rear for extra dish. 36. ok so it may not be the flex plate . sorry but I was unable to look into the gearbox as it is not made of glass . but thanks for your information ,I will see tomorrow what the auto place has to say . I just love the sleeper thing mate ,its just so much fun .the tyres are not to bad at the moment , they actually hook up ok . there is 50% tread left after 5000km. I would just run a small 300 rwkw tune for the street and the bigger tune for the strip .so I can use the semi slicks. the brakes would be ok if they would not shutter after they get hot . honestly you will have to come for a ride in it .just to see the peoples faces when the realise it is not a standard old xt one tonne falcon . yes I know why did I not just buy a new car before I done the last mods . but then when I drive it I love it every time . the ute is like me (as But plug said )I am a old *beep* and so is the ute ,so we are a perfect match . just hope the engine does not have a heart attack
    1 point
  37. might need some good advise here . its time to do some more mods to the ute . the ute coped a trashing on saturday and I stuffed the flex plate ,its now very noisy at idle . so the box has to come out ,and at the same time I will get it opened up so we can have a good look at why 3 gear is not shifting fast and hard . it was only build 6 month ago and only traveled 5000 km .I will also get a 2700-2800 stall to suit . so the next thing will be a new turbo ,but which one ? also the engine will be pulled down and some better internals fitted to it . might even get some new cams ,will see . I am just after 360 -370 rwkw ,want it reliable and practical to drive .so I would like it to spool up fast . I also want to upgrade the brakes (16 inch wheels only ) bradded lines etc . the budget will be no more than $15,000 as I will trade in some of my shares I have with west farmers . so I can not go over that budget at all (Kelly my girlfriend for 15 years would kill me ) as I have just spend $15,000 on it 6 month ago. lol. f*ck why did I not just buy a new car .

  42. Purchased one from Sonic today from link in top right corner that still had special price of $1374. Got an email from Sonic very confused over the price for the GTX. Said the sale had finished, and asked where on sight did I find this price. I thought they weren't going to honor it! But have, yeh.[emoji1]

  44. They don't sell in a 9.5 in a 20... Only a 10. Ozzy Tyres is cheapest in Australia and you can get an extra 10% off at the moment If you use the discount code "super60" at the moment. Make sure you buy staggered (costs an extra $300 I think)
