Accommodation

You must book your own accommodation for Saturday Night the 18th November.

Alpine Gables This is where all of us stayed last two time, it has a restaurant / bar as part of the complex.

To book your room, Call (02) 6456 2555, mention that you are from the Ford XR6 Turbo Club. Your room rate will be $90 per night for a double or a twin room. Any extra people are charged at $12 a person.

UHF CB & Mobile Phones

Once outside of Adaminaby, you will not get any mobile reception till the end of the cruise. For this reason being in possession of a UHF CB radio is a pre-requisit for this cruise.

That way everyone can stay in contact, the leader can relay information about cars, road hazzards etc..

Cheap CB's which will allow you to hear updates from the leader are available from any electronics store (I.e. Dick Smith) for under $50 each.

Decent CB's which will enable you to communicate at least 2km's in either direction are available for around $160.

If you need help with getting a CB, advice on which CB to get and which one not to get, etc.. Send me a PM

WARNINGS

This will be a very long weekend.

Sydney - Jindabyne is over 400kms

Melbourne - Jindabyne is over 500km

Lap of the Snowies is around 250kms

Sunday will in itself involve over 10 hours of driving.

The roads we are going on are very tight and winding un-signposted roads

There are hazzards such as rocks, branches, etc.. lying on the road (why we ask you to have a CB)

The roads are very windy, kids and car sick prone siblings are not recommended

You have to consider all these circumstances before you decide if this weekend cruise is for you.

So who's in, and have you booked your accommodation?

Hi Cro,

I'm a confirmed and will make my booking into the Alpine Gables.

I've got my own 5W UHF handheld CB radio. (So I can be an anchor or mid-fielder in the cruise if you need someone to relay messages.)

I've also got two 0.5W UHF handheld CB radios if anyone wants to borrow them for the cruise. Just PM me to reserve one.

For interest, here are some pics I took of my trip through the Snowy Mountains in early October this year. It was a great drive :spoton:

Thanks :gooff:

Kind Regards,

EvilDaifu - BF XR6T
