  1. FG Mk2 ute 30 000kms done it since day I bought it. Ford said exactly that it was normal and within tolerances. Just have to tango with the clutch and the gear stick to get the sweet spot to minimise the noise. That said some times its just unavoidable and sounds like S**T!!
  2. Day off work so thought I'd have a crack at taking out this restrictor ring. Going back to old go-kart days we used to have a restrictor ring put in to slow them down for the different classes and the difference it made from having it to out was like going from N/A to Turbo. This in mind by removing a ring that is in the exhaust could only be good for the engine. So this morning I jacked the car up and eventually got the exhaust bolts undone with some care not the brake them as they were pretty damn tight. Bit of WD40 helped enough to crack them and then was smooth sailing. Now to the grinding. After spending a hour looking for the die grinder I find out the brother has taken it and p*ssed off for a few days. So here I am with car up the exhaust apart and no Farking grinder to get the thing out. I spent another half hour looking for something else to use and finally came across a couple of old Cold Chisels and a lump hammer. With some careful precision and a few strong belts the Restrictor ring started to shift and before you know it she was out. There was only three small tack welds so the chisel and lump easily sorted them out. Bolted it all back together and went for a drive and definitely noticed there was a little more bottom end. My car is stock and a Mk2 FG manual. There gear changes between first and second the car seemed to pick up quicker and not drop off as much between changes at low RPM. Definitely worth having a crack at if you have an hour or so to kill.
  3. I too have one of these turbo smart ones on my fg mk2 and the thing is attracting attention from the boys in blue. Has anyone put the cap in it to plumb it back? Does it quiet it down much?
  4. strange thing happened the other day installing my hid lights. They tripped out when I touched the connections to test the lights. I have a fg mk2 and I was using a fairly cheap hid kit 35 watt 6000k. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Im in Sydney. Hate to continue on with all this cause im not as dumb as I must sound however, mine is a fg mk2 as I stated. It uses a H7 for high beam and a H7 for low beam (not h4 which I believe the mk 1 use). I will post some photos when I can to show my confusion, but for now I'll try to futher explain my issues. The HID kit comes with all the connectors to the ballast and two wires to connect to the OEM plug. The OEM plug on my car has a male side and female side. The male obviously clicks into the female. Now the female side has BOTH the low beams (2 black wires) and the HIGH Beam (2 brown wires) going into it. My confusion is that no where can I see where to plug my HID plugs into this oem plug anywhere. If anyone has done a mk 2 and this makes any sense I would be happy as a pig in sh*t. Appreciate any help I can get here.
  6. I am a complete novice with the wiring of these. Can anyone maybe by use of pictures show where on a fg mk2 the wiring has to go for the HID lights in comparison to the OEM fitting, and also attachment to the globe.
  7. Yeah I have to agree. Can you tell me the set up you went with an where to get it?
  8. Yeah that's what I think too. Can you tell me why set up you went with and who you got it from? Cheers Nullanulla
  9. Hi all, I have searched high and low about putting Hid/Xenons in projector headlights and there is so many mixed ideas about whether you can or can't do it. As I have the new fg mk 2 with projectors I want to know if anyone has put xenons in these with any success. Can you even buy kits that will fit these housing properly and safely? Any info about it would be great, I know that the projector headlights are only new to the FG range. Cheers Nullanulla
