I have just purchased a ba xr6t ute Auto with 160,000kms. Im wondering if the pipe connected to the turbo in the pictures seems normal? Looks very burnt.

Any help appreciated, Cheers Lance

The Turbo spins nicely and does not touch the sides. the oil looked pretty dark though on the lip seen in pic.

yep; he's right ^^. The metal tape on it does start to peel away if it gets oily, like it looks like in your picture.

there is no cutout in the production piece. It's a picture of a display engine, one that was originally used to show the intake and turbo piping pathway.

In the pic, what's the purpose of the cut out in the crossover pipe?? Never seen that before (and have an FG myself so am not familiar with B series intake piping). Curious!

See the turbo cut out too? They do that to help with turbo spool, it makes more power sooner and believe it or not it also helps with fuel economy.

Good pic up!

Ahhh thanks Keith! I assumed that since it was a red engine bay and aaronm had a red profile pic that it was his car haha. Which is confusing because he had about a dozen silver cars last I saw ;)

Yeh I normally run the rest of the car, not just the engine bay. And who the f_ck stole my radiator hoses, radiator and fans.......
