Hi guys,

Need some helpful advice please...

Clutch (standard) is on its way out on my 2012 xr6 turbo. The cars putting out 270rwkw's and I'll be aiming for 350-400 when I'm done. What clutch should I use as I want something that's still very drivable on the street.  Abby help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I think you'll find the general consensus around here is Mal Wood Option 3+. Its rated at 410rwkw. Should drive as well as the standard clutch on the street.

If you're getting close to 400rwkw I'd probably be inclined to go the option 4 for extra peace of mind, albeit heavier.

My stock standard clutch has lasted a while with 379rwkw.

It is only starting to flare up in fourth and fifth when overtaking and boost kicks in.

Manual clutches from factory take a beatings as far as I am concerned.

MT originally did NPC gear but started to have troubles with warranty and returns.

They then went with Mal wood option 5 gear for a while.

MT now have their own custom organic clutch setup, which I will be getting soon.

Close to factory feel, I have been told.

OP, how do you know your clutch is on it's way out?

I thought mine was on it's way out, but it held on while tuning the car which surprised me.

I was expecting to get a call to say that I needed to get my clutch done back then.

Some here with the church slipping as soon as I get into about 10+ psi in 5th&6th gear.

Also thought that maybe it's not helping with putting the power down as well.

Anyhow I now have a new NPC heavy duty clutch installed and whilst the pedal feels Alittle harder, it bites well (after the 1000km running in period).

Inspecting the OE clutch and flywheel afterwards it sure needed replacing.
