Battery issue with ute security system

I think B series utes have some sort of security system that is different from the sedans? I have a siren in the engine bay which has its own internal battery, which appears to be well and truly beyond it's use by.  When I disconnect the main battery the alarm goes off and lets out the saddest wail for about 10 seconds before dying.
I think? that the battery is slowly draining the main battery, if not its definitely not doing the rest of the electrical system any favors.  Just wondering if anyone knows of any similar thing happening for them?

Is it possible that it is an aftermarket alarm system?

All my previous cars had aftermarket alarm systems and the saddest wail sounds very familiar.

Are you leaving the ignition on as you disconnect the battery?
Mine makes the same dying cat noise you just disconnect the battery without leaving the ignition on.
My alarm still functions correctly despite that noise if you don't follow the battery disconnect procedure

All FPV have factory alarm. Probably easy to pull apart and replace backup battery.  I can't be bothered.  Just jam a rag in while changing battery.

Same with me and my home door bell even though it'll take less than 3 minutes. Brb replacing doorbell batteries...sometime next week...

Used to do that, don't need to so much now.

Same with me

I'm much in the same boat.  Unless it starts significantly draining the other battery.
Thanks guys
