just use the factory boost control... standard cat won't handle that sort of boost well, if it'll even get there, hence the drop-off you've seen.

Yep, I'm planning on the tune, if I go back to stock boost control I will be up for actuator as well. I saw some posts on here about decent manual controllers getting to boost quicker? I can get 14psi in second gear at 50%+ throttle. Will the stock boost control be the same (sorry just a newb to turbo). Its strange Autotech tuned it like that...

Any boost control is limited by the physical hardware it's connected to. So if your actuator currently can't hold the desired boost, changing the boost controller won't help.

 

Providing the hardware is up for it, the stock boost control can come in as hard and fast as the hardware can provide.

The stock boost control can spool as quick as any aftermarket controller on the internal gate as it works the same way. The main difference is that it can change the boost curve as well as boost pressure according to temperature.

What about this thread, I'm not trying to argue the fact.

 

 

I think it may be the exhaust and standard cat stopping it from holding boost, but I'm not a 100% sure what's going on there though till it goes on the dyno.

that :pooh: is ancient... the fact remains, a bleed valve might help mask a bad tune if the hardware can support more than the tune supplies via the stock control, but if the hardware can't support more than the tune supplies via the stock control then you're limited by hardware.

That result was through a lack of proper tuning.

 

Have a read of how an ebc works and have a read of how a bleed valve works.

 

An ebc will bring on a turbo quicker and more accurately than a bleed valve.

 

The falcons run an ebc.

If I had to guess, the main reason a workshop would do that is due to customer request.

 

Perhaps other parts or wiring needed fixing that the owner wouldn't do so the shop went with it? It might have already been fitted? A coin was flipped? Someone said a shop tuned it but it was never tuned at all? 

 

A guess is just that though, a guess. I could list more reasons why but it's kinda pointless seeing as I don't know for sure.
