I have just got a f6 bf, the harmonic balancer has cracked and stripped off, the key is full of sealer the bolt is missing. Is this common? Its been dodged up by prévois owner with no more gapes Barth room sealer to hold it on. Ive fixed heaps of rough stuff engine stuff already and it's getting better slowely. It's high rpm for long periods that kills them and the on off loading from gear changes They crack and then the bolt loosens Some silicon sealer is meant to be on the key to stop it leaking. You can dress the crank if the fretting and galling damage isn't to great. But if it goes undersize it's new crank time. I have done two on two different cars the fix is to fit a forged steel item.
