what is this hose for?

Hi guys,

 

Need help, what would you call this silicone hose going from the air intake manifold into the top of my engine?

 

its frayed/split and just wondering what its called to replace.. im guessing its just an air hose but I really dont know enough..

is it a big deal to leave it for a couple of weeks.. when the engine is idle and I move the hose around it doesnt seem to effect the engine idle in anyway..

 

where can I order a new one (pls dont say ford) ,, what would a newb like myseld call this hose?

I don't know a specific name for that hose, as it's just a 45deg bend of plastic hosing, realistically. It's the bits on the end that can fail or break off. Yes, ford is obviously a place to order it or a wrecker (or somebody who has this part of the crossover still and doesn't need it anymore after replacing the piping).

 

You can leave it, but it'll just spray oily vapour into the engine bay making a slow horrible mess.

It depends how much blow by your motor has. I left mine off for a couple of weeks and almost nothing came out.

I don't have a pic but I've got a length of hose that runs from there and I've snaked it under my intake and around my airbox and I've stuck it into my left chassis rail. Only reason I've done it like that is to make it inconspicuous. 

Same as running a catch can.

Hey mate, did you end up making one yourself. I looked at a heap of 90 degree rubber boots but no luck. I think the FG vent hose uses the same rubber boot and is much cheaper than the BA one.
