Tell me am I stupid or not the thing drives so well and looks straight but only thing I noticed was in traffic the gearbox clunked very slightly when baking off? Any advice? Still under warranty, I haven't picked it up yet should I buy the extended factory warranty?

You're not stupid; you're smart :) they are excellent vehicles, even when they're flogged by the rozzers before you purchase them xD

I'd say the gearbox needs a fluid flush, if it's the gearbox.

I'd check the tailshaft centre bearing, first, then check the diff bush to make sure it's not stuffed.

ignore Rab, that's just a running joke around here :spoton:

Take it back to the dealership, if you're concerned about the clunking... I wouldn't trust them to fix it, though...

Factory warranty = good; get them to fix it.

dealer warranty = not worth the paper it's written on (sometimes), so don't count on it being valuable, if that's the case.

FTFY

Seriously though - the ZF gearboxes have a STUPID design where they don't drop back to 1st gear when you come to a stop.

Try shifting manually and see if it all feels tight.

I ended up getting my transmission tuned (mostly) for the sole reason as to get rid of this "feature"

Take him for a drive and show him your concern.

Get him to note it on the sale docket.
