I hate windows 10 updates sometimes.

the bastards reset the start menu replacing all the programs I usually use with their games and sh1t. lovely.

least they removed the thing on my desktop that was heckling me to activate windows even though this copy of windows is legitimate.

pricks.

Me too. I went to use my laptop the other day and cos I hadn't used it for a couple of months I had to wait about 15 minutes for it to finish updating.

I had my keys in hand and was ready to walk out the door but no!!!

I dont know if you can in win 10 home but in 10 pro there are settings to turn off that suggested crap that clutters your start menu.

There is also plenty of scripts out there you can run that debloat win10 if you are really keen.

Finally setting up my server/sim/VR machine (18 months???? overdue?)

Found a spare 6tb drive and decided to get my arse into gear.

Got a 500gb SSD (850 Pro) I'm tossing up as using as the main drive - currently 250gb (830 Pro)

Will move all my media/movies across to it over the weekend, steam library, other games etc

This machine to feed the racing setup and VR games, Plex server, GeForce Now and Steam Streaming to feed the rest of the house from it (waiting on current gen 4k HDR OLED TV's to go on sale - I think the tech is there now to be worth splurging on when prices come down - nothing "new" on the horizon etc)

Wish I gave a fark about home automation etc - just not interested in telling my phone to dim the lights, change their colour or turn on the aircon etc. Reckon it'd be fun to setup, but am happy flipping a switch lol.

Beats 8

8.1 was ok'ish

7 was good

Am happy with 10 - each "seasonal update" brings something to the table, but breaks something else :S

I'm still on 7

I never took up the offer to the "free upgrade" to 10

I'm glad I didn't

my mother in law in Melb has 10, so I use it when I'm down there

I find 10 not very intuitive, a bit "clunky" and downright frustrating at times

7 just works

windows 8 through to 10 was designed primarily for  touch screens and that is the main reason I was never very interested in the so called "upgrade"

another reason , I usually do a windows fresh install once a year, and without an actual hard copy of the operating system it makes things difficult for me.

7 is good til 2020

I'll reassess my options then

Got legit keys to spare, or can guide you through how to recover yours to type in again. (PM me when needed)

10 isn't bad on the front end (and a lot better on the back end) but if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Got til next week for free Win 10 - can roll back and still keep it if you want to (last/final windows?? lol)

I really want a Fibaro Home Centre 2...very nice and intuitive UI. Have been tempted to get Philips Hue stuff, but would prefer to hold off and get something that integrates better into a whole whole solution. $$$ though! So well down the list of things for the house.

A mate offered me a deal I couldn't refuse for a 6gb GTX1060 and 16gb ram kit. Swapped him some old PC parts (780Ti, and 8gb ram kit) and will get em a carton of beer.

ill snap some pics when I finish work today, looks weird how tiny the 1060 is compared to my 780ti!

yeah he just bought a 1080TI and a 144hz ips 1440p gsync gaming monitor like I goto hungry jacks and buy a meal so it's safe to say he's cashed up HAH.

mini rant: the windows 10 update cleared all my saved passwords for gaming stuff, steam, origin, GTaV. it's like yes its my fault for being forgetful but isn't this why we have FFFFIN computers. grrrrr just wanted some gtav before work.
