Finally setting up my server/sim/VR machine (18 months???? overdue?)

Found a spare 6tb drive and decided to get my arse into gear.

Got a 500gb SSD (850 Pro) I'm tossing up as using as the main drive - currently 250gb (830 Pro)

Will move all my media/movies across to it over the weekend, steam library, other games etc

This machine to feed the racing setup and VR games, Plex server, GeForce Now and Steam Streaming to feed the rest of the house from it (waiting on current gen 4k HDR OLED TV's to go on sale - I think the tech is there now to be worth splurging on when prices come down - nothing "new" on the horizon etc)

Wish I gave a fark about home automation etc - just not interested in telling my phone to dim the lights, change their colour or turn on the aircon etc. Reckon it'd be fun to setup, but am happy flipping a switch lol.

Beats 8

8.1 was ok'ish

7 was good

Am happy with 10 - each "seasonal update" brings something to the table, but breaks something else :S

I'm still on 7

I never took up the offer to the "free upgrade" to 10

I'm glad I didn't

my mother in law in Melb has 10, so I use it when I'm down there

I find 10 not very intuitive, a bit "clunky" and downright frustrating at times

7 just works

windows 8 through to 10 was designed primarily for  touch screens and that is the main reason I was never very interested in the so called "upgrade"

another reason , I usually do a windows fresh install once a year, and without an actual hard copy of the operating system it makes things difficult for me.

7 is good til 2020

I'll reassess my options then

Got legit keys to spare, or can guide you through how to recover yours to type in again. (PM me when needed)

10 isn't bad on the front end (and a lot better on the back end) but if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Got til next week for free Win 10 - can roll back and still keep it if you want to (last/final windows?? lol)
