If the clutch is slipping put it in like 5th @ 40kmh and load it up. If it doesnt slip there your pretty safe

Well if I am travelling at 40kmh and put it in fifth, the revs sit just under 1000rpm.

I then put the foot down and the car struggles to accelerate but the clutch manages to hold on okay.

It does hold on up until boost kicks in and then the speedo literally jumps from 80/90 all the way up to 120, but the car is not going any faster.

I take it the clutch is slipping at this point, but I get no smell in the cabin.

I also check the rear view mirrors for smoke incase the tires have lit up, but not the case.

350 on 98 is a bit of a stretch with the standard fg turbo
E85 sure no problem

Was starting to run out of puff after about 315 I think.

You think a 2nd hand F6 turbo will do the job on 98? or even a 2nd hand one off a BF?

Any more supporting mods you think I should go with?

It wont be getting hammered flat out so ill take the risk lol

Thanks heaps!

Its slipping, youve confirmed so dont do that any more lol. It wont always smell, smell just means you have put a sh*tload of heat into it. You will probably find the discs arent that worn, probably seriously damaged by heat though. Just not enough clamping force to stop it slipping.

Yeah it would do the job nicely
But you will loose that awesome low down punch that standard turbo gives
If.You have the time and resources mod yours into a gtx3576 that'll flow around mid 300s on 98 and keep most of the low.down response

its not completely fubar then but def time for replacing. The aggressive on ramp of boost is breaking the clamp pressure. Will be fine to cruise on until you can replace but dont go smashing it and kicking it etc etc

replace as soon as you can
