I'm sure pcv is mainly an emissions thing

But I always thought it's also to create a vacuum in the crankcase to help the piston rings seal against the bores better

But im also sure if your forcing a whole heap of boost into the engine the rings are gonna be sealing pretty well

In the old days PCV was just to return unused fuel vapours back the the engine system instead of to the atmosphere wasn't it?

Has that changed? (my learning stopped about 1976-7 when the charcoal filters came in)

I always thought catch cans were good for worn weedy motors that had excessive blow by, in days gone with ford pre x flows if you had a weedy motor you just plumbed the breather into a coke bottle or oil bottle and tipped it out occasionally, otherwise you ended up with a soaked filter, modern motors and there systems are wierd to me as an old schooly. PCV valves serve a purpose Id leave it be

While we’re talking catch cans just how necessary are they and are they over kill on non Turbo motors
