Yeahhhhhh, did a bit of reading and with your comments too I'm going for a Rinnai B26 instantaneous gas hot water system. Be up around $2k but given it needs replacing now anyway I figure I may as well pay the extra grand to upgrade the lines etc and then know I'll have no chance of running out of hot water, even in the future with kids and stuff.

Plus it's bulk more efficient than my old one, so bills should be cheaper too.

So actually gonna be more like $2,800-3,000 because they have to upgrade all the gas pipework and put in a power point...so better be amazing and my bills better be noticeably cheaper!

What is wrong with solar Stripes?
Same cost for unit and installation.
Free hot water.
We have had the same unit on our roof (solar heart) since we bought the house.
It works brilliantly

Solar is typically more expensive to install. Do you have natural gas where your are stripes or will you be using exchange LP Gas? If you are going 45kg bottles expect to go through about 1 bottle every 3months. More in winter less in summer obviously. You can usually get a bottle for around $100 if you shop around

I don't and my building was built in 2012/13... but because it's an apartment building, they didn't bother plumbing gas, so everything is electricity :spoton:

My postcode covers a large area and according to an energy suppliers availability checker is is available in a town 10k's down the road from me but not in my town.

Ironically I'm 60 k's from the city and the other place is 50 k's.
