Fg xr6-t has been recently lowered with SSL fronts and SSSL rears. Had a look underneath and the rear is sitting on the bump stops. Is that bad to be riding on bump stops? Should I take the bump stops off completely? any opinions would be muchly appreciated.

Cheers.

Just cut them down a bit ,or you can buy shorter ones,

I got some shorter ones from Pedders

Even on a standard car they are very close.

I have ssl on the rear and after a few weeks cut the bump stops at the first knuckle (or whatever it's called) and doing so dropped my car by a mm on one side an 2mm on the other so they must of been 'just' touching

yeah today they were cut at the first knuckle and it still seems to be still sitting on the bump stops. Maybe they should be cut at the next knuckle from that or completely remove them?

I had my FG sitting on bump stops, this supposedly pre-loaded my IRS, resulting in this occurring .... Luckily warranty covered it for me

What was your suspension set up? Also how did your issue get fixed under warranty when they don't come from factory sitting on bump stops?

I had good rapport with my ford -- I guess with the Economy these days, it wouldn't be possible

Tein coil overs, rings removed, base machined on the rear.

Camber kits F&R,

Adjustable swaybars

Super pro solid centre & turbo sides (post diff tear)

But it sat low - thus the strain on the diff

Why a solid firm centre and stock sides now? That is the opposite to what you actually want for longevity with a bit of power. Surprised you haven't had a bolt snap with that setup!

Don't think that "pre load" theory is correct either... first I've heard of that!
