nelsonian101 Donating Members 961 Member For: 15y 9m 25d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 09/08/15 08:16 AM Share Posted 09/08/15 08:16 AM So got pissed one night and bought a set of 4 x 295 30 18" Yoko A050 on ebay in soft compound.The softs are great for Hillclimbs and winter track days as long as you're careful not to get them too hot doing too many supersprint laps.Need to fit them, starting with rears first.Circuit rims are 18 X 9.5" +22 offset all round.See thread here:http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/85736-pics-of-275s-all-round-for-circuit/My street rim rears are 18 X 9.5 +35 offset. 285 18" (30 or 35) tyres fit fine.To fit 295 30 18" tyres, I will need an 18 X 10.5" rim. +22 offset that will sit 13mm further out than my current street rims. Due to 1" width increase, the rims will sit 12.7mm further in. This in theory will make sure it doesn't hit inner suspension links. OK for the inside?My rear guards have already been rolled. 275 35 18 tyres fit comfortably at +22 offset. 285 very close.295 won't I'm guessing unless the guards are pulled out even further.Will the lower 295 30 18 profile help?Any recommendation for pulling the guards out a bit more or are flares the only option? 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

From 275 Z214, 270 Michelin slicks, experimenting with aero.I'm at the pointy end of Street/Circuit Falcon development in this country.Proved with my lap times on Natsoft. Went to 27 width, and actually lost time.* just remembered rears were stretched onto a 9.5" too, so not optimal sidewall supportDifferent tracks of course require different Tyres, wanneroo being abrasive and dusty (at times) worked well with these. I have also used 240 250 and 270 Michelin slicks.Best I have used were very fresh 27 65 18 S7H Michelins.They were sticky but you are right, ideally needed a wider rim for maximum effectiveness.I matched my slick times using 3 sets of brand new Z214's from tyre rack.I am now competing in stricter time attack events.Next year in the NSW Time Attack at Wakefield. Regs allow a 295 tyre all round for 2wd cars.My car has the torque to push 295's so resistance is not an issue, as well the weight to get them hot. The A050's will be used in the Hillclimb events I'm doing. Softs come up to temp very fast.Agree, a 285 would have been ideal but Z221 and A050 only go from 265 to 295 in width. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
