Hey guys I have a fg xr6t and my turbo started leaking oil and it sounds like the bearings are screwed too now,

I was just wondering if its possible to fit a gtx3582r front housing on the rear housing of the standard fg turbo,

also what type of power figures should I expect with running the gtx turbo on 98 and e85, whats max boost and has anyone had any problems with their turbo?

And best place to buy the turbo then fit it and tune ect?

I got the supporting mods on my car for the gtx

Full turbo back Exhaust

Full cooler and pipework

1000cc injectors

Bigger fuel pump

Earls turbo oil line

Tune

Bov ect

Any help is much appreciated, thanks

The GTX is (I think) the most common upgrade on the FG and bolts straight in. The only things you'll have to change is the front joiner - the standard GT has a 3" and the GTX has a 4" inlet.

The other thing to watch out for is the actuator bracket. To line up the rod properly, you may have to give it a bend or re drill the mounting holes. I bought a universal bracket from Sonic Performance (MTQ) and this made it piss easy.

You will also loose a heap of coolant so that will need replacing as well.

I fitted a gtx..76 on Friday morning (& by "I fitted" I mean Stigmata fitted it for me....hehe) and it just falls into place.

The 76 will spool the same as the stock snail whilst the 82 will start to spool 'a little' bit later.

On 98 properly tuned, the 76 will give around 350-360 and the 82 will give about 20 more. On E85, 420+ for the 76 and 440-460 (I think) for the 82.

Think of your fuel pump as well and make sure it's capable of pumping enough fuel if you're going E85

There is plenty of turbos that'll fit the standard housing

Gtx3576

Gtx3582

Pte6235

Mta750

Mta900

Just to name a few

Also if your on a budget look at the mamba turbos gt35r hot side with a billet t04z cold side

I'm tossing up between the Gtx3576 and the mamba hybrid

The gtx3582r has gone 400 on 98 and 480+ on e85 tuned by Joe at CMS

Ex head of kinugawa is the guy that runs mamba and I have a kinugawa turbo atm and I rate it highly

I've heard of other blokes running them with success and for the price it's very competitive and comes with a rear housing

I'll probably be using one next time

It's a 3540 with kinugawa billet wheel with a ported rear housing

If I had my time again I'd just buy that new turbo with housing and actuator from them or a gtx3576

Fg turbo lasted one year? Did you have the earls turbo line on it the whole time?

I thought they only die from oil starvation I.e. blocked oem filter

Or from having high kms?

My turbos still fine after 125,000kms...oil line since 80,000...so could still die eventually lol
