Hi everyone,

Got a completely stock F6 and was thinking of getting a X-force Varex Muffler, just wandering what peoples thoughts are regarding just doing the muffler and running the original FPV exhaust system? Will it still sound good or do I need to do the complete system? And would there be any slight performance increases with stock system running the Varex muffler?

Cheers in advance,

Tim

My opinion varex muffler won't give you any performance increase and this is only

An opinion but I think it would be a waste of time the stock system is made quiet for a reason better of getting urself a catback if your after some extra sound . Or if you want performance without the sound upgrade your dump pipe to a 4inch with highflow cat and get a tune :) oh and if you want performance and sound go a full turbo back system with tune. Sometimes a full turbo back system can cause issues with boost control and you may also need to port your wastegate and get an actuator and larger flapper fitted. Heaps of info out there on this topic have fun reading :) but don't be afraid to ask if unsure

Would a varex affect the tune, seeing as it's likely to change the restriction of the exhaust?

I had one when they very first came out on my s14.

that had a full 3in system (standard upgrade size for them) it flowed fine when open

It is only designed to cruise around though when closed as you are only really giving it a 1in tip when closed.

Did a run on the dyno with it closed to see how it went it choked up bad around 5K and he stopped going any higher. So really only designed for when you are putting around town, on the highway or see a RBT. But cops have caught on to them now was they have been around for 6 years or so

You can put on a catback without having to alter the tune so a varex setup would be in the same boat. Hiflow cat or bigger dump pipe would be another story.
