Hi All,

Well I made a spur of the moment decision and traded my 6 speed manual BA MKII GT for an auto FG F6 .

The F6 is a great car (only had 29000 km's on it and immaculate) but I haven't ever owned an auto before so I'm not sure about the box and whether I'll get bored with it.

I'll book it in over the next month for some minor mods but does anyone know of reputable places on the Gold Coast that know about F6's?

Cheers

Hmmm the auto can get abit boring at times but when you line up next to a quick manual car and you keep that boost up going through the gears you realise just what a gem that zf box is dosent matter how competent you are with a manual the zf does it better IMO very good and intelligent box congrats and enjoy :)

I dislike it kicking down automatically when I'm driving and prefer to engine brake a bit as well, so I mostly use + and - shifting. Also avoids the sudden kickdown to 1st as you take off from a give way sign.

On the other hand, I doubt that engine braking does much extra wear and tear to engines and gearboxes, fuel consumption drops to zero so it uses less fuel (at least on FGs) and you are not wearing out brakes which you will pay to replace.

I do it more to lower the amount of heat that my brakes are producing, hopefully reducing any chance of shudder due to a hot rotor being kept clamped when you stop. I also often stick it in neutral at lights for the same reason. Also I get a bit of a nice burble as I slow :)

I'm sure any wear and tear is a thousandth of what I put it through when I take off again!

This ^^^^^ also much better to keep the engine in the sweet spot for exiting corners.

MM is heaps quicker and smoother for cornering IMO

Cheers all. I'll give Hi-torque a call over the next few weeks.

I'm thinking I'll start with:

Stage 2 or 3 IC Kit

Turbo back exhaust

Injectors

X4 Flash

Maybe a Growler CAI

Valve springs if I need them

Am I missing anything?
