Ultimates are said to be very dusty but bite hard. Are they hard on rotors too? A question for someone who's used them.

Have used QFM-HPX and very happy with them. Lower dust and stop well. Great for a daily. Cheap too.

I have ultimates in my Harrops, as said above, hell dusty but they grab hard even from cold which is a nice trait for your daily.

And from Harrops themselves they are friendly on rotors. That's why Harrops recommend them for their brakes.

I have Bendix Ultimates on the BF...and its like what the others say...the bight is very firm and you feel very confident stopping in them...though they are very dusty and can squeal a bit on light application of the brake...they are also very harsh on the disc but I believe that's the price you pay for stopping power...

On my FG I have SRTs and they are supposed to be a step up from the Ultimates, but I can't say I have been that heavy on the brake to notice the difference between the two...they both have great bight and are dusty...though for some reason there seems to be less squealing with the SRT pad...

I like ultimates but as everyone has said, very dusty and chew your brake rotors. But chewing your brake rotors is good IMO as they keep the disc "true" and you never get brake shudder. I usually get two sets of ultimates to one set of discs without machining in between. Since standard disc are so cheap who cares about this issue.

However I am trying out Ferodo DS on my FG (after years of using Ultimates) and just don't like it that it does not have that initial bite. On the street Initial bite is the most important for emergency stops and a normal person will never fade them on the street.

Yeah the hard bite when cold is certainly something a street car should have. Good point about them keeping the discs truer as well. Have read before about getting rid of uneven pad transfer buildup from daily pads but using harsher pads to scrape it all off. Using the friction braking stage to remove the chemical bond on the surface?

I'd hate to chew through my DBA4000 T3's extra fast though.

For a great all round street pad can't beat a Ferodo DS Performance. $165 and under!
