Hi,
I will be bolting on some goodies prior to booking in for a Stage 1 package tune.

Question is what size dump pipe is best suited to using he small turbo + stock exhaust?
That is wihout doing the flapper/actuator mod.

3 1/2" with hi flow cat or 4" with hi flow cat?

Just looking for a good reliable tune utilising what the engine has hidden away.

Thanks,

Id go the 3.5" split pipe into a 4" 100cpsi Sureflow cat mated to the stock exhaust.A rear muffler delete pipe will sound good and flow enough for 320rwkw on pump 98.

I had the smaller Fg turbo on my BA before and the spool was very good but had other top end issues holding it back, the exhaust I had was 3.5" split dump into 3" decat pipe and single 3" exhaust....still run same setup now and very similar to what I stated above size wize.

Eventually had my questions answered.

Will be having a 4" full Xforce system, 3582 turbo with pot n flapper mod, id1000's (already in place) , PW cooler, piping, PW surge tank, trans service n tune, SS intake, muffler delete.

Be in Malaga though.....

Sorry to bring this back up, so what was the consensus? Is it a good idea to have like a 4" dump if you are NOT doing the port and flapper mods or should you leave the dump pipe standard size unless you are going to do them?

4" dump and standard cat back exhaust should be fine. That's what im running and seems to work fine with the standard turbo on an fg

Lennox, you don't have to fork out the extra for the 4" dump. I still have the standard dump that came with the car.

Yes the exhaust will flow better if you get the 4" dump and this way you have the supporting mods if you want to go big latter on.

I think the 4" dump helps with controlling boost, someone please correct me.

Don't you get more torque with bigger dump though? Or is that only if you do the entire exhaust

I have no idea on the difference in torque but so far my car has ran 11.2 @ 124mph with the standard cat back exhaust and standard fg turbo on e85 . I like a quiet car so it seemed like the best option .

LU82, how much are you pushing out at the wheels?

I have the standard turbo and dump. The exhaust is standard and the only thing I have changed is the cat.

I have 800 N.M of torque, so it would be interesting to compare to your results LU82.

Yeah there are a number of cars going quicker with small turbo, I think the quickest is a 10.8.

The car has run an 11.2 @ 123mph air temp 18c° when it had 336 -340kw . Then I had the tune touched up (340-350kw) and it ran 11.2 @ 124mph air temp was 28c° so the heat was hurting the time and mph . The car will run a quicker time just need a better 60ft and a cool night. Im not sure on the torque figure but it would be hard to compare unless it was the same type of gearbox run in the same gear and on the same dyno
