Pixy you just got "Proper" FHUCKED IN THE ARSE.

They have flat out skimped on the size of the wiring and have not met the standard minimum requirements, how can I tell you ask ?

Well the tell tail signs are at the bottom of the fusebox you can see where the active conductor has got so hot its basically turned into a heater element just like on your toaster and you can clearly see the Breaker is sufficient at 32A

cabling is the most expensive part of any household electrical installation you can add massive % to a small electrical company's bottom line by pushing the limitations and installation methods on "Derating" cables but when you push the industry standards ( there for a bloody good reason ) you run the clear risk of burning a house to the ground and killing people

what you do from here will get messy as all chit !

if you call the technical regulators they WILL shut off all electrical supply to your house and WILL NOT allow supply back on until the whole house  has been inspected ... up side is it will be checked by a third party and stringently !! Down side is it can take AGES AND AGES especially at this time of the year and you won't be able to live without power obviously, costs associated can be sued against but again you'll be out of pocked for a while and court costs and time will suck initially

the electrician/company can be fined and or loose their license due to failure to comply with a COC they would of singed off on

you're just about to have another super crap time in you're life ...

Pretty sure jet could chime in here but if that's your main board you've got bigger problems.
No light circuit or RCDs?

And this. Your circuitry is extremely farked. Houses needs several circuits and to be split for lighting fixtures and usually broken down into several areas due to load factors on each circuit. Surely there is no way that got passed but jet is right you are going to be in for a world of hurt at a bad time of year.

If you need anything man dont hesitate to ask.

That won't be the main board, in a big domestic situation it's common to have two ( MSB and SSB ) even though its a sub the first breaker has to be labeled "Main switch" and isolate that actual board

the main ( MSB ) will be with the meters and the sub is common to be half way through the house or closer to a pool area with a decent demand for pumps and obviously AC units

the chitter to this situation is the cable may be destroyed all the way through and will need a full replacement

32A    should be min 4mm2. Could be a bad connection at the breaker. AC Feed should be at the bottom which is the burnt region

This is not the main board obviously. There will be a main board with the majority of the house wired through that.

If necessary it can be reported later but Jet wasn't kidding when he said Pixies power will be turned off.

If you call the local power network to report this issue, such as sa power for example, the main fuses to the street will be pulled within the hour and not replaced until the problem is rectified.

Don't do this unless you want no power as of tonight.

This clearly is not a suitable solution at this stage.

Call the builder or elec and explain the situation and give them a couple of days to come out and fix it. Just remember if you act like an angry carnt people will delay helping you no matter how right or justified you are.

It's not the end of the world to go without aircon for a while. At least there is a pool to cool off in.

If you're handy and know how not to die when playing with this stuff then you could open the box and fix it yourself, providing that it is a short piece of wire in the box that burnt rather than a wire coming from a phase in the main board.

If you don't know what you're doing or unsure of yourself then don't touch it.

I know it sucks to have things go wrong but now is the time to put yours and your families happiness first and enjoy your xmas day!

Look on the bright side, (no pun intended) at least the house didn't catch on fire!
