What Did You Do To Your Car Today?

Recommended Posts

This is a thread where you can share the little things you do to your car that don't really have a place, basically all the little things that you with a mate can do at home.

It's also a thread to share parts you have brought and will be fitting soon.

Also feel free to post plenty of photos of more intricate tasks!

sweet pics

The only thing I did recently was put in a pollen filter with charcoal in it. sh*ts all over the stock one. Also added a cherry smelly tree I got from woolies, got complimented not long ago about how it smelt like red bull which I thought was quite nice.

Funny to come across this thread today Henz... Spent a whole day out there with the car!

Here's the condensed version;

New serpentine/drive belt install and checked all pulleys/bearings for play/noise etc.

Changed oil and oil filter - Nulon 10W 40 fully synth with Ryco Z9 oil filter. Full engine oil flush and lifter/tune up additive.

Cleaned throttle body and checked all pipes/hoses and fittings for condition and tightness.

Cleaned air filter and X-over pipes.

Bought new X-over bolts and installed them - The ones that are half a rubber section with two threads - Used for holding the X-over down onto the engine. Mine had become brittle and fallen to pieces...

Tightened all turbo bolts and checked/tightened fittings on turbo side X-over piping.

Added total fuel system cleaner with full tank of 98 octane.

Used McGuire's Scratch X 2.0 to remove all small imperfections.

Washed car and cleaned interior.

Disconnected battery to reset computer - Cleaned engine bay.

New windscreen wipers installed.

New air freshener :spoton:

All fairly straightforward jobs. If anyone needs any help, I'm happy to offer advice!

Few things to do soon are;

Trans cooler install

New diff oil

New power steering fluid

Suspension - Control arms, bushes, shock etc

Rear brake pads

New actuator and inline oil filter.

Not bad for a car with 120,000K'ms on it. Other than that, she's perfect - Love my T :spoton:

Cheers guys,

Dan

Awesome sh*t the exterior stuff! Just need to redo the interior stuff again. Some reason the heater is now making it foggy, need AC on most of the time if I have heater on. Or a window down a little lol. Its not a heap of fog and only happens when the cabin is warm and up to temp. Shame I did alllll the windows and not one to start off with lol

Yeah its behind your glovebox(in the B series). Picks up all the leaves and seeds that fall through from the plastic scutter panel. There is a video of how to do it in the DIY day thread in Vic forums.

You might be onto a winner here Shy!

There is. Search pollen filter I think. Paulie posted in the particular thread recently that talks about better filters. The aftermarket one can even stop the sh*thouse smell from a lean car/e85 car/diesels etc.

Other day I asked about product to clean the brake dust off my convos.

$5 says there still dirty. Washing the car occasionally will help
