Phew that was fun. It seems like I was busy all day and got fark all done.

At any rate I've got both motors on stands and will tear into the fg motor on the weekend.

After a metric farktonne of cranking, the timing marks on the motor line up. I was mistaken a few months back when I said that it had skipped.

I would bet my right nut that it has a cracked ringland.

It was missing at idle and huffing 1 very noticeable cylinder worth of smoke from the rocker cover. It drove the 1km home fine though without missing.

I'll get it apart tomorrow and have a look.

Marks dont have to line up perfect. just be the correct number of links at spacing, BUT is the bottom mark lined up at the crank???

Also check the top of the guide for damage, they often break. This one is intact.

Yeah the bottom mark is lined up. The guides are in good nick as they came with the low km fg motor. I just looked at it wrong the other month.

Either way we'll have a look inside the motor tomorrow and see what's up.
