Our resident metalolologist will chime in at some stage but that pipe has cracked due to poor quality steel being place under stress. Hence cracked next to the weld and propagated from there.

Ralph is correct, it has come from the weld toe. But seeing as it started at the approximate 12 o'clock position ( top half of dump), I would say a restrained section trying to expand across many heat cycles has contributed to the crack initiation.

Today was wash & wax day :biggrin:

Car just ticked over 100K

Had it serviced by the pros across from my work (as opposed to my backyard self) 

they said it was in great shape :thumbs-up:

so I thought I would give the outside some TLC

I wired in an o2 sensor today that I had sitting around and when I fired it up the scanner was showing that it works. Beats buying a new one I spose.

 

I also gave the car a much needed wash and chamois dry after driving around the dirt roads recently. I'll wax it in the morning cos I kinda ran out of time this evening.
