recheck the cam timing, we have seen this code quite a few times and normally the cams are out 1 tooth, normally caused by a broken guide, the plastic breaks off the top of the moving guide and falls into the crank gear and causes the chain to jump.

It varies all the time as per any closed loop operating system, but have seen approx 15-16 degrees error when it has jumped a tooth.

It appears 15 degrees does not set the code and light but approx 16 does, well that's we saw a few weeks ago with one.

check the ohm resistance on your cmp sensors should be between 280-380ohm could just be a sensor fault had that on a lpg ute last week and I check valve timing ocv and vct actuators ended up being a exhaust cmp sensor mine was bank1 (intake cam) p1381 and p1340 were my codes.

You have rough idle and surging on cruise and full throttle?

Cheers neil

Thread revival!

I too am having this problem, I'm getting p1381 and P1386. ( bank 1 & bank 2)

I have removed the cam cover and inspected the timing chain, all of the guides are fine, and the chain looks fine.

I used a screwdriver and got one more click out of the tensioner but that hasn't seemed to help.

has anyone else had these symptoms?

I'm thinking I might remove the cam cover garnish and check the resistance on the sensor next, any other suggestions?
