lol at Straughsberry.

Pity it seems we may need to have the microcontroller on the network as soon as car is turned on.

I found some nice mini-pci CAN bhus controllers.....would have made the job so easy.

Ah well, let's see what happens. I will have a chat to Lukeyson and see if he can determine what (if any) messages propagates between ICC, HIM and Instrument Cluster - I think these are the only modules communicating with the ICC.

But, lot's of time needed to determine and confirm.

So Beanie,

At this stage at the moment, got an approximate on the cost of parts necessary?

Also, so far, is their any soldering or circuit board alterting - or is everything straight plugs?

Cheers,

Steve

can someone please explain to us stupid people waht this is actually doing?

Scotty,

This will replace your standard ICC. Hoping to completely rid our cars of that limitation - the ICC will be replaced by a carputer, and CAN interface.

Carputer to control all HVAC buttons etc via touchscreen, GPS, music (via mp3's) etc.....the CAN interface is needed to simulate handshaking on the CAN network, to keep all modules happy.

Anyway, the IC I could not id this afternoon seems to be a MB90F549G, which is a propietary 16-bit microcontroller.

More data to follow.

Basically, turning the ICC into a customisable entertainment unit. We'll also have digital instrumentation from OBDII. The current options fall short of the hamburger with the lot where this is aiming to be the hamburger with the lot, allowing us individually to choose what kind and how much cheese, bacon and lettuce we want. Two slices of pineapple? I want that...
