Hi guys;

I really think I need to service my ZF 6 speed. I was wondering why you need to replace the sump on the ZF when servicing it. Can’t I just flush the box and put new oil in it? How much does the sump cost to replace and is it necessary is my question. Also I think I will just put the factory oil back in it and not the Tranzmax Z. Your thoughts?

The reason I think it needs to be serviced is its flaring out in performance mode and seams to be slipping at WOT. In manual mode it does not seam as bad and dose shift fairly well.

The car has been modified since 2500kms and now has 18000 on it. The ZF still has the factory oil in it.

I have searched the site and have found info on the oil type but not much info on the sump it self.

Any advise is appreciated

Thanks

Why did you have to change it?

I've had the car modded since about 8000kms and thought it might be a good idea. Was told the oil that came out of it was still in pretty good nick and looked good though.

the ZF boxs are a *beep* to change the oil on. The oil has to be added at certain temperatures, you can't just fill it up to the top all at once for some reason - the boys in service hate doing it because it takes forever compared to the old BTR

I have found a trans guy in S.A on good advice from my tunner.

He spoke to him today and told me he had done them before.

I just need to call him and find out what his thought on the sump are.

Price wise he said around $650 to $700

As for a discount on two we may be able to get $50 each off.

I will let you know in the next two weeks ok?
